Solaire: Inspired by the character from Monty Python?

Post by Corporal Maxey on Thu Nov 08, 2012 11:00 pm

I was watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail and saw that the main character had a picture of a sun on his tabard, not unlike Solaire. Do you think there is any connection between these two characters?

    You mean Befowler?

Kidding. Its King Arthur who rocks the sun symbol in Holy Grail. They're certainly similar designs. It's possible one of From's designers is a MP fan. A lot of people are.

In Arthurian Mythos, Solaire is more similiar to Sir Gwaine, as he was known to be affliated with the sun. In legend his strenght waxed and wained as the sun rised and as it would set. Sir Gwaine was also known to wear a green cape from when he faced the Green knight.

A Green Cape? I thought it was a buckler or sash. And the entire Round Table wore it with him to show their dedication.

    Could be wrong.

It was a sash worn around the neck as a cape given to Sir Gwaine from a queen, whose name escapes me, just before he faced the Green Knight. The sash was suppose to be handed over to the king as part of an argeement but Sir Gwiane kept it as he was told it would protect him from any injury. It was revealed that the Green Knight is really King Auhors sister and she did it all to make Sir Gwaine look like a liar and coward. The other knights wore sashes/capes/whatnots As a sign of support of Sir Gwianes bravery to face an enemy of legend like the Green Knight. Sorry for the late reply I was busy personal issues.

    Could be wrong.
