In all the time I've played this game I have never seen anything like it. Some new spell or helmet from the DLC? It lasted well over 2 minutes, so I don't see how it was a spell. The guy was a pyromancer and tried to kill me with a combination of dung and Great Combustion, but I managed to beat him.

Maybe a skewed sunlight maggot helmet? Thats the best i got. I know in the arena you get a crown for your wins, via youtube. But i don't think it carries OUT of the arena, unless there is a glitch for that. :edit: you wouldn't be able to get a pic would you? Or contact the phantom via 'recently met" section.

He had Ring of Calamity. It gives the wearer a floating red eye above their head. And as a bonus, they receive double damage from everything.

Sounds like he might've been wearing the calamity ring.
At least when the black dragon does it to you, you get a glow above your head.

HA! Ring of Calamity. That was probably it. The funy part is, I told my wife when I saw it "This can't be good. I'm probably about to learn a new way to die in PVP."

Yeah it was definitely a Calamity Ring. That guys a bad@%^. Invading wearing one. How did he do in the fight? Despite not winning?

Not well. I'm not very well set up for PVP. I put most of my points into faith so I could toss SunBro lightning and endurance to fast roll. I'm wearing chain with cleric leggings. My weapon is either Astoras sword +5 or a light crossbow +11. My shield is the heater. I can't hit anything with lightining, unless it is standing still or as big as a barn.
He was wearing pyro without the hood. All I saw him use during the fight was a pyro glove and dark hand. He tried to poison me with dung, but I either dodged or rolled through it to hit him. The same with his great combustion. Without any poise, I stunlocked him a lot. Still it took me about 5 hits to finish him off. I fought way more aggessive then ussual, and he had a real good shot at parry/reposte, but never took a try.

Calamity ring, with it he was taking double damage.
