Re: Final Fantasy
I love the FF series, but couldn't finish 12 because it felt like the game was playing itself and never even bothered w/ 13. I absolutely LOVED X though, played through it about a dozen times and probably spent 50-100 hours just playing blitzball. Played through FF7 about a year and a half ago and it's still a great game. Played through FF6 (FF3 in the states) about 6 months ago and didn't really enjoy it, felt it was actually pretty weak as far as the FF series goes. After I get through monster hunter I'm going to get FF9 and play that again as well, one of my faves and only played through it once.

OMAIGAWD AND FF THREAD Well I have played all of them now I think... very much enjoyed all of them even if I havent played enough of 5 or 9 yet really.
oh wait. I hated 13 and 13-2 kinda sucked. 12 only played itself if you set it up that way. I ran no gambits.

Re: Final Fantasy
you should play 9 if you haven't man ^. It's one of my favorites. Kind of a return to the origins of the series. The world it takes place in is really one of the more beautiful ones IMO too.
In some ways it kinda reminds me of Legend of Dragoon

Re: Final Fantasy
My first FF game was FFVII. It was there when my love for FF and RPGs in general began. The difficulty, awesome cinematics and hours of play time made me an instant fan. When I finally killed Ruby Weapon the sense of accomplishment was amazing. After VII I bought every FF game, FFXI the exception because of monthly subscription and crappy PC.
I'm undecided in the favorite one, VII and XII are the ones I like the most. VII because it introduced me to the series, and XII because of the beautiful graphics, vast world and awesome monsters (Yiazmat is too hardcore). I was so inspired by my victory over Yiazmat that I use the username WyrmHero on all my accounts (from the reward sword, WyrmHero Blade).
I also love XIII, the graphics and Vanille are too beautiful. The combat system is my favorite so far, mixing classic ATB with the auto system from XII was a very cool idea. It also has the "hunts" side quests that I enjoyed (not as epic as XII ).
I tried playing VI but the graphics are way too old fashioned for my tastes. I still want to finish it because the story seems epic. I'm looking forward to XIV, even though I don't have the money to pay for a monthly subscription. Maybe I will lol.

Re: Final Fantasy
If you can get past the graphics it's really a worthwhile game. Here's hoping they remake it with 3D graphics like they did FF2. I really enjoyed that remake.

Re: Final Fantasy
I've played III, IV, VII, VIII, IX, X and XII. I really enjoyed XII and IX. I liked VIII too but there was a point where it seemed I was just really underlevelled and I gave up on it.

Re: Final Fantasy
on viii i stopped before the last level... i had my hp stat tied to the tornado spell at 99 stacks and atk tied to ultima also 99 stacks... i basically two shotted everything since i never used the magic system for anything but buffing up my melee stats.... i'll probably finish it up on a random day when dark souls no longer satisfys...

I loved watching the Eden summon of FFVIII, but yeah I hated that the optional bosses were pretty easy.

i hated the whole magic system in ffvii, the only reason i made myself finish the game was because i really liked the story.

Re: Final Fantasy
I like the materia system , it's my personal favourite out of the 'newer' systems they've had for the single player games. I'm still a huge fanboy for the classic class base magic system. It's why I really enjoy XI and XIV.

Re: Final Fantasy
At the moment tonnes, since the servers for XIV are shut down in preparation for the relaunch alpha testing. But when XIV: a realm reborn comes out I guess the population will drop again. A lot of people play it anyway, just expect low and medium levels to be ghost town that's all.

Re: Final Fantasy
Sub fees are £9.95 or $11.95 (depends where ye be from ) I don't play anymore either , since XIV will be better (in my opinion) when it relaunches.

Re: Final Fantasy
Depends on what system you'll be on. PC release is around January (depending on beta.) and PS3 release will be shortly after (again depending on the PC beta.) I'm not sure if there will be a PS3 beta, I'll have to check the Lodestone.
