New DLC, New build Empty New DLC, New build

Post by True King Doran Thu Nov 08, 2012 12:03 am

Hello favorite forum on the internet! Been some months since I last picked up dark souls, and with the new DLC arena just about every complaint I had about this game has vanished. So, I'm back in the fight for humanity, and by humanity, I mean [u]YOURS[u] twisted

    http://tinyurl.com/acepwvh
But, here's the build I think i'll be using to take it from you. I was thinking it'll allow me to use the new Tracer weapons of a certain Lord's Blade to great effect (once I find them that is) along with the lower level dark magics, which I hear tell are the bee's knees in terms of top of the line overpoweredness. So, what do you guys think? Of particular concern to me is the armor setup, I just picked something dark with enough poise to avoid stun locking from most weapons.

2 more inteligence to use the shotgun one i think, and its the best of the lot. also if you're using the tracers no str is needed and together they weigh 3 pounds...

Ooh crown of the dark sun, good idea. Totally forgot about havel's which is weird because that's always been one of my favorites. I was also contemplating bumping up attunment by 2 for a third slot, but do you really think 2 more in intelligence would be better suited? Dark Fog appears identical to the pyromancy fog spells, and i use those just to mess with other people, rather than offensively. Additionally, any tips for the use of the tracers? I know the main hand is a dagger which'll be weird for me, and the gold is supposed to be the offhand, but as far as tactics, etc. go. Also, which weapons best mimic their moveset so i may get used to dual wielding

The Gold tracer is best used in the main hand. It's really, really useful- great moveset and stunlock, as well as an epic bleed effect. The Dark Silver tracer is best used for crits and toxin buiildup- it's not really effective enough to be a main weapon, you should keep them both in the first hand. Also, the dark magic is only OP if you have high Int.

makes sense, damage does scale with mag. adjusment for your catalyst. in light of that, is the intelligence even worth it? the only thing I'm sure i'd use would be GMW for my Mura. any pre-DLC weapons that mimic their movesets? right now i'm using priscilla's dagger and shotel so i can at least TRY dual wielding eventually, i read somewhere their movesets actually link up and flowing combos are easy to pull off

The gold tracer is like the painting guardian sword and the silver tracer is a dagger with the strong attack of the mail breaker.

only the r2 of the silver tracer inflicts toxin...
so i guess this might be what your looking for

i can guarantee that it'll look fairly good, also hiddenbody is on there as your anti pursuers technique, the new homing spell wont fire off against targets using hidden body, and the fog ring reduces the rage at which the spell can see you but doesn't completely stop it like hidden body does.

hidden body is useful now?!? yayyyy! also, does that non-homing effect apply to to the soul spells..? I'm gonna guess that it, sadly, won't since i've never even heard of this tactic before! then again i haven't touched dark souls in 3 months

its been confirmed to work for all the homing spells, thing is the old homing spells can sit around the caster for a long period (except pursuers which apparently goes away after 15 seconds unactivated) so you may need to recast hidden body.

hmm still a valid new application for a seemingly useless spell, at least in my experience. Thanks for the tips man!
