Oolacile is narrower than the Burg and you can get caught easier by spells and miracles. Burg is more open, but you have to kill those #@$* undead soldiers every time you lose.

Re: Hosting in Oolacile vs. Burg
I'm finding more people in oolacile, speed of being invaded is much faster than in the burg. Thats my experience so far, early days yet, first playthrough with the dlc, im doing another build now, we'll see how things develop.

There seem to be a plentiful amount of RSS near the open area with 4 Oolacile residents and the shortcut into the Abyss, its about as big as the burg and worse comes to worse you can run strait to your bloodstain and fight your way out after.
The bonfire area seems to be exclusively invaders and they could use a little walk in my opinion.

Honestly, thanks to the new dark magic both are garbage. Hosting either you just get mage after mage after mage. If you like that, i guess oolacile cause it is more active lately.

Re: Hosting in Oolacile vs. Burg
The cool thing about Oolacile is that it's a varied place to invade. Lots of enemies, the initial part is kind of boring unless you're dueling though. But when properly INVADING, it's much more fun than Burg.
Because of that, you can get both the DUELING honorable experience, the GANKING experience, and the random INVASION experience (everything goes, running at mobs, hiding with them, etc.). Is much more complete than both the Kiln and the Burg. Only place that resembles it is the Darkroot Forest.

Re: Hosting in Oolacile vs. Burg
I have noticed an increase in sorcerers, has anyone tried the pitchfork lunge when they cast? The majority of players invading in Oolacile are spamming spells or playing cheap so I've found showing no mercy is the only way to go, I wont chain bs but wake up attacks and stagger kills paired with good armor have evened things out for me. Although I play with a buffed Murakumo so connecting 2 hits is usually a stagger kill.

Re: Hosting in Oolacile vs. Burg
The amount of mages is high, but I use it to challenge myself and find ways to avoid their dark magic spamming. My characters is pure melee, so it is difficult, but satisfying when successful. Staggering or stunning is a perfectly acceptable strategy, often leading to victory if you can catch the little buggers. A good mage knows how to keep the distance.
I find that if I can survive the initial round of pursuers, I can keep the pressure up so they can't cast it again. Dark Bead is a lot easier to avoid and dodge without the distraction of pursuers chasing you.
