    Hey!

Just finished my NG+ Soul Level 1 run at Smough & Ornstein. Naked, Melee Only, No Healing, No Damage, No Ring of FaP.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGuPen135Nw

I was really pleased with the fight and just wanted to share. Each time I ramp up the difficulty I learn new things about each of the bosses. A real testament to the game's design and combat mechanics. Can't wait to take on the Four Kings and DLC bosses!

Again if posting links to youtube is not the done thing then I will remove this immediately! Otherwise I hope you enjoy!

    Praise the Sun! big grin

Good job. Shame about all the missed opportunities to attack.

Unfortunately there is no scale for how offensively/defensively you play and the relative difficulty added :/

I'm trying to do this right now, except I have to do it on the Orstein Path and they keep clobbering me, it is a LOT harder when your trying to beat down Smough while having Orstein on you. Those dashes come out of nowhere.

However, I seriously cannot do this anymore without resorting to pyromancy, it is way to frustrating doing it with melee, although that might be because I haven't been doing it in hyper mode.

Great video. How did you get super Smough to do so many jump attacks in a row like that? Was that just luck or is there some trick to it? I've cooped him hundreds of times and never seem him just stick with one attack like that over and over. Not trying to take anything away from you, I totally would have eaten it on one of O's teleport glide attacks you dodged earlier.

It is just exploiting his moveset. He does certain attacks at certain distances away.

EDIT: Plus a bit of luck.

Yeah at that distance I'll either get the jump or his charge move, but I'd just never seen only one of them like 6-7 times in a row. Interesting stuff.

On one of my no damage O&S fights I had Super Smough chain spamming the lightning buttslam.

I kept charging back in after he used it and he just kept using it again and again. Decided not to upload it because I deemed it pathetic.

Fingers crossed for you - the dashes are damned annoying, but when he attacks through Smough with his spear it's even worse! Good luck!

Heh, thanks man! Yeah, you've got to keep in that mid range position. Not sure if breaking the lock after attacking has any effect - I actually haven't fought him enough to test things out. But every time I've fought him I've been able to reliably get this off.

If he starts to do his hammer charge direct him into a pillar, rotate to the other side of the room and reset the distance. I'm not entirely sure what determines his decision to do the electric body slam attack. Seems to occur more often when you get right up in his face, so there's a trick in landing your attacks without getting too close. That could be just random though. Either way after a heavy attack with this character, I only just have enough stamina regen once the pool's empty to get in the second dodge to get out the way. So even though this was the safest method to take him out I was still a little on edge!
