Problems with Darkmoon Cov.... Empty Problems with Darkmoon Cov....

Post by Heroez Blade Sat Nov 03, 2012 4:33 pm

I was messing around in multiple locations trying to invade with the blue orb and the Darkmoon Cov ring. I spend atleast 20 minutes in each of 3-4 different locations using the orb over and over again and nothing happens. I dont evan get summoned by the ring.. :x

What is up with the lack of guilty people or is there something wrong with that Cov? I would really like to know so i can change covs if i cant invade.

PS: I am on the Xbox and my SL is 467 so i should be able to get someone.

Well the ring only summons you to dark anor londo.. have you tried using the orb at pvp heavy places like the forest or Pw of Ariamis? Should try the township and the new forest areas as well. I usually get a bunch there. Im on PS though

Most people stick to the DLC right now. Just try using it in the area. I've invaded as a DM all the time.

It's just, all other areas are pretty dead with the DLC going at the moment, although there are still some, so just keep trying.

Thats the thing i dont understand.... You guys say you are invading all the time, but one of the areas i tried was the new dlc area, and still nothing.

I did not try the forest however so i guess i could try that, but i just wish i could invade instead of sitting around for 20+ minutes failing.

It's pretty constant for me in the new areas as well. I'm sl 190 something by the way.

Your soul level is pretty high so really you'd have to look for places with high level or high sin. Oolacile township may work for you however your best bet is going to be Alvina's Forest, the upper burg and the kiln. The first being one of the only areas frequently hosted by high levels and the later two possessing the most sinful players imaginable.

I haven't personally tested sin myself (although I have verified most level restrictions otherwise), but it's believed that invading below co-op range with the Blue Eye Orb requires 1:1 additional sin and I think this is probably true.

In other words, you can invade any level lower and within co-op range upwards, so a level 467 player with the Blue Eye Orb can invade between the levels of 1 - 524. Although to invade further below co-op range (410 for you), the host needs a point of sin for each extra level. Level 400 would require ~10 sin in this case, and level 100 would require 310 sin.

I'm not sure how things are for the Book of the Guilty on XBL, but on the PS3 I think I was rank ~2,200 or so about a month back with 110 sin. So there probably isn't a large player base with hundreds of sin, making it hard to find players in the more common level-ranges.

TLDR - It is often suggested that because you can invade any level lower as a Darkmoon, you can level up as much as I want... but I don't think this is the way to go. Instead, you should stick to a common PvP range or a little bit higher, but not a lot higher. I have a very high success rate of invasions in the DLC areas with a level 70 character. I think 70 - 144 is a good ballpark for being in the Darkmoon covenant.

I've only begun a little testing on the ring, but I think it has the same level restrictions as the Blue Eye Orb.

That...that's amazing info. I've always enjoyed being a blade of the darkmoon, but never looked into detail about the coven. 'Rules'. I'll have to now. Im SL. 158 with mine. And i don't lvl much. (Not a specific build either, its my original first ever character)

As for the original issue. Try restarting the game. I back out entirely not just to the title screen. That seems to help it reconnect sometimes. But this summon/invasions system still seems pretty flawed to me. So the best advice is just to be lucky. If your only rank one you could try leaving. Absolvin any sin YOU have and then rejoining. Potential in game mechanic we are unaware of but never hurts to try. Unless your already rank 3.

Absolutely true. I tried to offer help with 4kings (mostly before the dlc I got summoned there every 10 seconds, now nothing lol). After waiting fruitlessly in the dark, I decided to go to the dlc area. And woop, summon after summon.

So yeah, everyone has gone to bingo at oolacile town. winking

Thanks! With level 158, you can invade 1 - 184, but below 132 or 131 is where the host starts needing > 1 sin. Players at the 'common' range of 120 only need 11-12 sin, so 158 does not seem like a bad level.

With the incentive for some to stay at 100 because of the Arena though, those players will need something like ~32 sin, which isn't too bad still.

I would definately say your SL is the problem. I am SL 128 on PS3 and I invaded 7 players back to back in one area just yesterday.
