    Great-Bow questions Empty Great-Bow questions

Post by MalevolenceK Fri Nov 02, 2012 4:19 am

In the process of making a pure archery build. I was wondering if i should use gough's greatbow or the dragonslayer bow?

I am pretty sure that the planner is incorrect because i has goughs bow stop scaling at 27 str, and i thought the 1.5x bonus didnt apply to bows? I want to stay al SL 100, this is the build i have so far http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=3586912558141755

so yeah, suggestions would be nice. I want it to be pvp viable ( i know it will be hard but i like a challege) so the DWGR is a must IMo for escaping and getting a shot in.

Very nice build. Personally I prefer the Dragonslayer to Gough's but they are both perfectly viable and the argument to use either over the other can be made but it really is a matter of preference. You can drop some End and put it into Vit if you want because by the time you knock your next arrow, your stamina has already regenerated. On a more obvious note, a little poise goes a long way so I would suggest trying to squeeze some in there. Overall the build looks nice as is.

if i swap the fap ring for the wolf ring i can get some poise, but then my HP lacks a bit.

might play around and at least get the 8 poise BP.

You could also consider going stealth for a archery pvp build. I've never done it myself, but I've seen a bunch of great videos with combinations of things like the fog ring or chameleon in combination with the DSGB. I have a stealth dagger build that's really fun to use. Just be prepared for some hate mail in response. A lot of people consider that stuff to be dishonorable, but if your main weapon is going to be a bow I can't really see an argument against using stealth as a compliment to it.

You should use Goughs bow, it's a lot stronger.
Mugen is not incorrect, it's just that greatbows are a bit wierd. You need full str tobe able to wield them, but the AR still gets the 1.5 multiplier.
Using a bow build with a shortbow/comp bow Is very viable, as long as you're good at dodging. But i've never tried using a greatbow, so i can't say how that would work.

yeah well thats why i am using both of them, the compbow rocks some nice damage.

i saw a vid on greatbow pvp and the trick is to get away and draw it, then wait until they try to attack you or cast and hit them, while they try to get back up you get the next shot ready. poise would be nice but i NEED that DWGR and having high stamina is important for dodging mentally
