Abyss sword & Parry Empty Abyss sword & Parry

Post by Glutebrah Thu Nov 01, 2012 12:11 pm

FYI to people, you are able to parry the 2handed R2 attack of the Abyss sword, and it is easy to do the timing is right around the end of the first flip start of the 2nd flip.

however... when you land the parry you still take damage and still suffer stagger so you can not actually perform the Riposte... very weird indeed but me and Wilk were testing it the other day and i parried the attack 5 times and took damage while being staggered every time.

i should add that he didn't have the int/faith requirements to wield the sword properly during these tests.

    just thought this was interesting.

Grass crest shield, so I guess that's a normal parry.

Doubt it would matter, parry windows are parry windows aren't they?

That just has to do with the timing that you hit your parry button. But if the parry window on the shield lines up with the parry window of the weapon the result is a parry.

I'll run more parry teststhough using different shields

Partials i believe means you were a bit to slow on the parry, you parried a little to late. Which makes perfect sense if you are used to the fast parry window of a heater shield.

Not saying this is definitely right but it sounds like your timing was a little bit late. Could be wrong but I'd test it with a target shield or a parrying dagger for the increased window to try and make sure it's not just a late parry that casuing you to take damage.

Thanks for testing it out and sharing dude

EDIT: Ah sorry all this was said while I was typing lol!

yea it was weird, maybe it was some lag? but i was able to parry all his other attacks normal and fine. R1s and 1handed R2s (which is super easy to parry because its a double swing)

i just never seen it before, except a few super laggy matches where i took damage when i parried some one.
