Killing Ciaran
Has anyone done any kind of extensive testing to make sure there really are no benefits to being friendly with Ciaran? I've just gotten to this point in the game with a build that I actually care about this time and, while I'd like the armor, something about bashing her in the head with a club while she's praying just isn't sitting right with me.

Re: Killing Ciaran
It's not just that, although I do like her as a character also, but it just seems like the kinda thing where there'd have to be some kind of benefit either way. Dark Souls is just too complex a game for there to be nothing at all. Although I guess this technically being DLC material I don't know that the same rule applies. I think I'm going to not kill her and try to do all the other stuff that's relevant to the 4 knights and see if anything happens. Like maybe if you don't kill her, then rescue Sif and go to Artorias's grave? I don't know.

Re: Killing Ciaran
I think DLC in many ways seems odd...things don't seem to go anywhere with the new characters. They had the time to make a new cutscene for Sif and all that cool stuff, but what about Ciaran? Chester? Do they have a purpose? it all just seems...unfinished.

Re: Killing Ciaran
I know what you mean. I got that distinct feeling with Chester also. He invades you and then you can run back and almost confront him about it but nothing happens at all. Except that you can just kill him, for an even more permanent nothing.

Re: Killing Ciaran
She's voice acted by a woman, and hints to a romantic relationship with Arty. While I guess that could not necessarily mean it's a woman, I still think it is

Re: Killing Ciaran
I think it actually might say in one of the item descriptions also that she's the only female member of the 4 knights. I can't remember now. That could have just been something I read here too

Re: Killing Ciaran
has any one given Carian Artorias's soul, then let her live, and then rescued Sif?
maybe the 2 are connect. some how.. that seems a bit obvious though, and i am sure some one tried it. it would have been cool to at the very least have her as a summon able Phantom for Manus, or another boss later in the game.

Re: Killing Ciaran
That's kinda what I was thinking. Something like a Ciaran summon sign for a boss fight. I plan to start some extensive DLC testing this weekend with Ciaran. I'll post any results I find.

i would have LOLed if FROM made it so if you give her the soul, let her live then Save Sif, that when you go to fight Sif, not only do you get the new cut scene, you see Ciaran and Atorias walk out from behind the grave and you need to fight all 3 of them.

Re: Killing Ciaran
I know that if you kill her a loyd's talisman appears at the grave. I haven't heard about anything different being left there if you leave her alive, but that is one of the things I intend to try.

I gave her the soul and then left her. How do you rescue Sif? Is that when you find him in the chasm?

Re: Killing Ciaran
What if it's the same as with the case of the Sanctuary Guardian soul?
What i mean is that perhaps it was just removed from the DLC. Perhaps there was going to be more to it, but it was just removed. If you ask me, for a DLC, there seems to be a lot left out, and i'm not complaining, the DLC was great, but it seems unfinished, almost.

I'd considered that also, and I have a feeling it's probably the likely answer, but I'm not going to discount it and not even try just because it's a possibility. I'm not expecting any new equipment or anything like that, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some little difference somewhere. We'll never know unless someone really tries.
Yes, you rescue him when you find him in the chasm

Re: Killing Ciaran
Well, I did not kill her. I rescued Sif. I beat manus while summoning sif. So I think I will swing by the grave and see if anything is going on. I probably will not be on until later tonight.
On this character I already killed Sif in the present. Good thing Sif in the past is not aware of that, or perhaps he would have turned on me in the Manus fight.

There ya go. I thought I remembered reading that one of the item descriptions referred to her as a female directly
