Working on a faith build Empty Working on a faith build

Post by Eufrasi of Londo Tue Oct 30, 2012 7:15 pm

Hello everyone. By most folks' reckoning I'm pretty new to Dark Souls. I got the PS3 version this year, loved it, and purchased the PTDE for myself and my girlfriend. My first playthrough, I played a STR tank build and just blew through the game. This time, I'm trying a faith tank build, and things are becoming a bit more difficult after placing the Lordvessel. My current setup is as follows:

    Level: 75

    VIT: 25
    ATT: 14
    END: 30
    STR: 16
    DEX: 12
    RES: 10
    INT: 9
    FTH: 40

For armor I use the Elite Knight Armor set +7 and Havel's Boots for a little extra poise. The weapons are a Tower Shield +4 and a Divine Claymore +10.

I feel as through the claymore is the current source of frustration. As it stands, I feel like the damage output from the one or two swings I can manage with the weapon is not enough to compensate for how slow and vulnerable I feel after attacking, especially after the 1.05 patch. I'm currently in TotG attempting to farm up a second white titanite slab to make another +10 divine weapon. Any input on what might be an adequately fast/strong divine weapon?

    1. get the mericals Wrath of the gods and emit force as offensive and great heal as a healing
    2. use whatever weapon you feel best with, i suggest curved swords for lower vulnerability (falchion)
    3. no more faith, its just not needed 30 is normally enough unless you want the high class party heals or lightning
4 have fun ^_^ faith is weaker than magic but far less risky to use

if you're going to use a divine/occult weapon, they scale to 50 Faith so you'd want to go all the way. (50 faith will also boost faith spell damage by a good amount)

That being said, most people opt to go for a 40 dex 30 faith build to buff a normal dex scaling weapon

    your choice though!

    hello

i would get str to 24 as u have already 16 and get myself the zweihander and/or the man serpent greatsword. bring both weapons to +14/+15 and start using a weapon buff like sunlight blade or darkmoonblade in difficult situations.

with your faith @ 40 this should be doing tons of damage and u can combine it with power within for more damage output. and yes the stat scaling of the divine upgrade path is rather bad.

    greetings

I have a cosplay Leeroy build with Grant +5. You know - I dish out significant amount of damage with it.

Put two points into Dex, and use the Swag Sword, it will have more or less the same damage output as the Claymore, with its R2 attacks, but a lot faster.

So I came up with this build for you (http://tinyurl.com/c6bosn5)

The only correct answer is to stack WoG.

Thanks for the input everyone. I have an excess of white titanite chunks from trying to farm a slab. I think I'll pick up a side sword and a few more items and try them out upgraded to +9 before commiting a slab to one. Is the Astora Straight Sword any good, or is it just an early/mid game weapon?

The Astora Straight sword is just an early game weapon, mostly just useful for the catacombs to kill the skeletons.

Other swords will suit you better =]

Pretty much. The great thing about PC is you don't actually have to play to NG++ or more to get 3 or more stacks of WOGs.

And to the OP, this is what you should aim for right here:

My faith build is identical, except I got a hornet's ring in place of the Sun's firstborn ring.

Since your strength and dex are at the minimum, I would actually suggest going for an occult claymore instead. You also currently have the stats for an occult composite bow, which would doing decent damage combined with moonlight arrows.

If that does not suit, you could always pump strength/dex up to 20/16 and use the obsidian greatsword combined with a weapon buff such as sunlight blade or darkmoon blade.
