Gold Tracer Stunlock?

I was invading in Darkroot Basin and ran into a player with the Gold Tracer. I had heard that the weapon was relatively weak so I didn't think much of it... until the player started using it. It quickly stunlocked me even though I had 77 poise. Has this been experienced by anyone else or did this player just put me beside a small hill that my character could not escape through? If this is true and the weapon turns out to have great stunlocking capabilities, then I only have one thing to say: Good job From for getting rid of the MLGS stunlock only to introduce the Gold Tracer stunlock with Bleed as a bonus!

The Gold Tracer stunlock is very powerful and the weapon bleeds you much faster than any other. It has very low damage to make up for it though, and only breaks as much poise as any other curved sword. Twohanded, it would have taken three hits to stun your 77 poise. If you get hit that many times in a row, you're the one at fault rather than the weapon

Do all curved swords stun as well as it does? A Scimitar or Falcion, for example?

Yeah, but the Scimitar and Falchion don't have bleed. They have the same stun as Polearms, Spears, Katanas, and Straight swords, and some of the highest DPS in the game. 2handing a curved sword can be very strong, and I've noticed that the Gold Tracer has a wicked phantom range that tends to hit you even after you roll out of the stunlock.

2H Curved Swords stunlock very easily once they break your poise. If they break your poise, the opponent could literally spam the light attack button and you would take each and every hit they lash out at you until their stamina bar depletes. If they are using the PGS, there is a good chance you'll get killed...

Gold Tracer is basically a combination of the PGS bleed and Falchion reach with slghtly less damage. Everything else you've come to expect from players who stack poise so they can tank lock other players still applies. Parry or BS. Or stack even more poise and do the same thing. I mostly just spam BS if I don't get the first parry attempt. They don't give you a whole lot of options, so I don't feel bad about doing it either. In my opinion, that setup is easymode/scrub method 101, but it's also super effective so I can't really fault people for relying on it. I just respond the only way I know how.

PGS is still probably the most deadly curved sword though. Highest damage AND it bleeds. I've chopped people down in about two seconds using that thing. It's commonly underestimated.

I have only used it so far in the off hand paired with a CB.... if I think I've built enough bleed ill pull it out and do a R2 triple attack to get the bleed dmg lol!

Spamming it 2 handed is pretty easy mode like Dmg said tho and if someone wanted to do that a PGS is probably better!

yah, pgs is fairly amazing, i made a low level troll character using it with power within, crazy berserker build, is sik fun....
i have been using gold tracer a bit, as a back up weapon for my great scythe on my main build, its fun but not overly amazing.....i am going to try using the dark silver one instead and switch to it for parries or if i am gonna bs..... see if the crits are uber brutal...

The best thing about the Gold Tracer it's not the stunlock, it's the dead angle it does, and when you use it's attacks unlocked you can aim it mid-move and hit your enemy 100% sure.

PGS is insanely good and people really keep underestimating it and just try to start R1-spam wars with me...a good pointer: don't take spam wars with PGS, you will lose
If you get stunlocked by a curved sword you kinda deserved though, expecially if it's PGS because the range is shorter than fist weapon, haha.

Pretty sure it actually has negative range. You can only hit people with it if they're standing behind you. Haha.

Curved swords are good against backstab fishers too. I destroyed many bad fishermen yesterday with +15 shotel. Just spam r1 and when the start to circle you, lock off, turn around and spam some more r1. They were probably just trying to do a poise backstab, but got caught in a stunlock instead.

The gold tracer outweighs the pgs in my opinion because of the longer range and the fact that it bleeds enemies alot faster, it also works extremely well with Priscillas dagger because it makes the 500 bleed easier to achieve

Interesting... I've been using heavy weapons lately with my buffs to get over 1000 AR, but I guess I forgot the faster weapons along the way. Perhaps it's time to drop the Great Club for a PGS or a Gold Tracer.

Yeah, most of the time if you get in an r1 spam against a curved sword you you will lose if you have a str weapon which is why you never do it.

I used to be a big fan of rapiers, katanas, and curved swords (anything fast-ish really). Then, afterwards I just figured why not compile as much AR as possible because I was fighting a lot of gankers and I wanted to get OHKO backstabs. But this thread has really encouraged me to have a nice fast weapon on hand for when I run into a 1v1.

What I do with some of str builds(specially hunters) is get dex to 12 o get an elemental rapier for that finishing blow since most people switch to turtling or bsing only when there about to die.

Elemental weapons have been nerfed so my Chaos rapier is pretty useless IMO, though Velka's still looks pretty good.

Chaos didn't get nerfed as much and it's for chip damage more that anything and the bs damage is still good.

I'm not so sure, when I took a look at the change I was almost weeping inside. All my precious AR....

omg seriously I have found the gold tracer to be brutal, both when using it, and when facing it.... in experienced hands it is fairly incredible, the R2s reach and phantom hits are crazy, and if i let out an R1 spam I was giving 1200 damage in a few seconds....it is fairly amazing

Thank God it can't be buffed!
