i am looking for some advice on the mgs. i just started using it recently and the damage in pve is medicore at best. i am currently rolling with 36-40 int, is that not high enough to really take advantage of the sword? right now my +3 chaos gargoyle halberd is out damaging the mgs. thanks!

According to the Stats Calculator, you'll have 480 damage one-handed with 50 Int. The sword is good in PVP because it staggers quite easily while dealing magic damage.

It's not as great in pve as pvp. In pvp, the staggering and single damage type really shine. In pve, everything staggers anyway, and mobs' defenses are low enough that split damage doesn't really matter. By contrast, the gargoyle halberd is a fantastic pve weapon, but it has low poise damage and it really makes you vulnerable when you miss. Thus, it's a mediocre pvp weapon. Different circumstances = different weapons.

Fyi, I use the MGS in pvp with 44 int, and it works quite well for me. Also, I assume you've upgraded the MGS, right?

Gargoyle Halberd is a must in PVE. Upgrade one with Fire and you've got nearly 900 AR without scaling. Like I said, MGS is good for PVP, it deals 100% Magic Damage and most of the tanks dont have a big magic defense. By the way, a lot of the PVP'ers dont.

I used the MGS plus five with a little over 50 int, and around the four kings in ng+ it was underwhelming imo. But in ng and before it was great, I can't say much about pvp cuz i don't have internet lol Prostration
