You need to save Dusk and summon her, place the Lordvessel, then run over to the Duke's Archives. You need a key you find in the beginning of the Archives to access the DLC.

Yeah it's disappointing you can't just go there from the start. The gateway for getting to the new areas is also in the same place as the golden golem you kill to save Dusk.

Basically the key is an item that drops from a new enemy in the first room of the Archives (bah, where you face the first group of hollows)

Wouldn't you have to just possess the LV? Or are there no dark wraith red invaders in the DLC.
