It's about 356 MB on XBox. There's and XBox update (at least in Canada) as well, so you have a double wait.

The DLC is 356 MB? If this is true, then I am pretty certain all this content was in the game already. I cannot believe an entire area's worth of DLC, with new bosses enemies and items is a whooping 356 MB. Can anyone confirm this?

I thought that was rather strange as well, expected it to be a lot bigger. Been playing since 8:30 this morning, so far it was worth the wait.

Will the DLC actually download to the 4GB Arcade version of the Xbox? I've been able to download stuff for Guitar Hero and things like that on to it, but when I tried to install the DLC from Oblivion GOTY Edition it wouldn't let me.
Does anyone know? That would REALLY suck if I couldn't download it lol :S

There's enough memory (over 2GB), but there was enough memory for the Oblivion content as well, but it said something along the lines of 'valid 360 storage device not found'. That was install from a disk though, I don't know if that's different?

That's the size. Pretty small. I've been having trouble getting the DLC to activate. Can't seem to get the pendant from the golem in Duke's Archives. Not sure what is up. Sure would like to play thought

I can't help the feeling that this content was supposed to be in the original. Just seems like something very similar to the painting of ariamis in the idea that you need a rare item to get into the place. The pendant was supposed to have an effect, and now an item called 'broken pendant' puts you in the expansion?
I remember an interview with FROM before Dark Souls was released saying they didn't like the idea of DLC, that games were sold completed. But this... stinks of unfinished content or delayed for the purpose of being sold. 356 cannot be enough to hold new item models, areas and item models as well on a game with this much graphic detail, and with that in mind, one has to wonder if all of this was present in the original disk to begin with.
If I'm right... I'm sad that even FROM are corruptable, probably by corporate greed - NAMCO.

@sinspaw, in reality, I believe the alternate is true. This was not held back to be sold as DLC later. FromSoft planned for it to be in the game but there were obviously time restraints, and they had to cut it because it was not essential.
The Painted World is a perfect counterpoint to your thought there. FromSoft/Bamco could have easily held that back and sold it as DLC. It has all the makings of "additional content:" you go back to the start of the game to retrieve an item, it unlocks a part of the world that was there already so it fits in nicely, and it's totally non essential to the game (they could have stuck the Red Sign Soapstone and Dried Finger anywhere). Instead, they probably worked their butts off to have it ship on the disc.
I don't doubt they wanted the same for Oolacile, but they did what was necessary. This isn't a sign of corruption. It's a sign that excellent game design with be rewarded with a devoted fan base, who in turn are a significant help in giving the developer a chance to complete their vision of Dark Souls.
FromSoft are deserving of every penny they earn from this DLC. Call it karmic justice.
