Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
Bought BF3 instead of MW3 on a whim (it was cheaper).
Otherwise i would probably be a CoD fan
I might still buy blops 2 though, it looks really fun.

Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
I played Black Ops with my best friend a lot. It was really fun. Then I saw MW3 and was very disappointed in not seeing an improvement. The sound is terrible!!!! Then I saw the trailer for Black Ops 2 and I saw the graphics... :pale: not excited at all.

Until we get holograms or virtual reality or something, we've basically hit the graphics ceiling. Graphics really can't get much better than they are now to any truly noticable degree, so I seriously doubt if there's going to be any significant graphical updates from one game to the next.
On Topic: I don't play CoD (I actually dislike it quite a bit, sorry to say :|), or any FPS for that matter. But I like to think that I know a thing or two about the Games Industry and thought I'd use that information to help dissuade a person from writing off a game experience they could potentially enjoy because of outdated reasoning

CoD has potential for improvement. If we compare it to current gen games like Battlefield and Uncharted, I know they can improve. But for that they have to work a lot for their yearly releases, or take a break and develop a game every 2~3 years.

Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
I used to like CoD myself, though the quickscops kind of got to me. Couldn't handle it anymore, so i sold all of my CoD games :|
As for Blops 2, i don't think it's going to be as good as the former CoD games. Just seems like they don't really know what they're doing, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, have fun with the game

Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
I hate CoD. I love it up until World at War and maybe MW2 for having some really epic campaign missions. But now it is essentially the fast food of video games. $60 fast food. They make a new one regularly with almost nothing significant changed. It is a waste of money. What I will never truly understand is how critics give it such high scores. It's a solid game yes even if it is the same crap served up as fresh but that makes it a 7/10 or maybe 8/10 not the 9+/10 that it gets. It should not be placed on the level of Halo, TES, Mass Effect, or other great series. Not anymore. What truly saddens me is that some of these games I just cited are being changed to appeal more to the "casual" gamer which is going to ruin them. Not to mention Halo could quite likely be the next CoD. But I rant. Sorry about that.

You do realize that video game scores, with very few exceptions on certain sites, are scored on what is essentially a 7-10 scale, right? If a game gets a 7, it's what most of us would consider a 1-3. If a game gets an 8, it's what most of us would consider a 4-6. 9's are actually 7's or 8's, and 10's are actually only 9's, with only a very few of them actually being worth a full 10. If CoD games constantly get 9's, it means they're really just a little bit better than the average game, not that they're near-perfect masterpieces.

Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
yeah, MW was pretty awesome and mw2 felt like a really uninspired dlc and the rest were pretty much the same and i will not waste sixty bucks on dlc and not a proper sequel(mw2 was the last one i bought btw)

Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
I agree with both Sunlight and Reaper. Many reviewers are incredibly biased over large franchises. I lost my hope on gameinformer when it declared best shooter of the year to MW3 when it had a super solid competition which had improved graphics and fresh multiplayer (BF3).

I was basing it off of what I have observed. I only really look at the big ones. Mainly the ones that are known for magazines as well like Gameinformer, OXM, Gamepro, etc. But I stopped subscribing because of crap like this where they cater to the fans opinions rather than honestly review. I have not really observed the scale you mentioned but I cannot disprove it either. Either way CoD doesn't really deserve the reviews and awards it gets.

Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
I used to be a big fan of CoD. I still play the Big Red One on my GCube sometimes, but not much anymore. I really don't play any of the new ones though, I really only rented MW3 to finish the storyline which I got hooked into from the first MW and try to get into multiplayer, but I didn't really like the multiplayer for it and have since given up on Infinity Ward.
I still enjoy playing some of Treyarch's CoDs though, they normally add something new to the game which is really the reason why I'm looking into Black Ops 2, unlike MW3 which was a carbon cutout of some of the worst online multiplayer I've ever had to deal with.

Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
The consensus among intelligent people seems to be to avoid CoD, which I think is fine.
I like the series because it's a popcorn game, it's something I can play with very little thought, plus It doesn't have the time investment that some other videogames have...if I want to play 10 minutes, I can play 10 minutes, if I wanna play 10 hours, well...I can do that too...

Re: So....Who here likes CoD?
That's the reason why I still have MW2.
Every once in a while I will have the urge to play it for a bit so I'll go on either multiplayer (even though I hate the online community) or do spec-ops. It's a bit enjoyable, but it gets old and repetitive fast which is the reason why I do not like the Call of Duty's developed by IW.

While I admit I don't like CoD, that more extends to the fact that I just dislike First-person games in general. From what little experience I have with them I would never call them bad games, they just aren't up my alley in terms of tastes. When it comes to popcorn games, that's where MMORPGs settle for me

R6V is one of the best and most under appreciated FPS of ALLL time. Has one of the best if not THE BEST map/game mode (Casino/Attack and Defend), was one of the first if not the first FPS to introduce customization to your toon, first FPS/Shooter to implement the cover system, tons of weapons and gadgets to use, all of those said items had counters to them.
It has been greatly overshadowed by the CoD/Halo/BF giants of the gaming industry which is a massive shame because it is a great game.

I agree. I played R6V a ton. The terrorist hunts were really fun after completing the game too. This game probably has the best shotguns out of any FPS. They're strong, loud, and actually have realistic range.
Unfortunately, R6V 2 was a dud.
I used to hate on COD, but the games are fun and it's nice to be on the bandwagon sometimes. None of my friends play Dark Souls, so it'll be great to play games with all my buddies again, hehe.
