    Is there any other item thats found at a location (Not a drop) that there are two of?

    It really makes me ponder why this is the only piece of gear in the game that has two locations. Never mind that it has a spider on it and both the locations are next to blight town.

    Any thoughts?

    Always found it really odd. Why is there two? Why only the spider shield? WHAT THE *** DARK SOULS!?

    My best guess: Not everyone picks the Master Key+newbie players really suffer hell in Blighttown especially going in from the Depths=give them a 100% poison block shield in the area before Blighttown.

    Perhaps there's some story to it? People in blighttown used these shields because of the poisonous enviroment, and they just about managed to escape it after the chaos broke out, but did not get much further but rather faced their deaths?

    Reasoning:

    All starting classes (barring deprived) have their equipment sets, in full, throughout the game. Sometimes there's minor changes, like a Falchion instead of a Scimitar. So they could have had the bandit's complete set in the Depths before Blighttown (blight town is the only place it REALLY comes in handy), or, leave the bandits gear as is, and put in a 2nd shield.

    They should have just dropped the bandits full gear there and removed it from the Dragon bridge outside of New Londo.

    It's really handy for the depths for people who arent great with rats and it's also rly handy under the red kite bridge where you first meet rats. Not really making a point here just saying big grin

    I also think it was for people who didn't pick master key, so they can have protection against the poison dart enemies. While Souls games don't make things easy for you, they do reward patience and planning. So people who noticed it and realized its benefits would make it through upper blighttown easier.

    Besides the player character, a character of every class but the deprived ventured to Lordran and was overcome, dying and leaving their armor in places where you can find them. However, two Bandits went to Lordran. One died in the valley of the Drakes, while the other was likely killed by the Giant Rat in the Depths; you can see the battle axe stuck in its eye and the Spider Shield is also nearby.

    Dark souls does a lot of things to help you out. You can summon npc's to help you in 10 boss fights. In two of those, you can summon 2 phantoms to help you. There is also the drake sword, which makes the early game enemies a joke. And when the drake sword isn't OP anymore, you get the lightning spear. Pyromancy can destroy almost any of the bosses and requires no stat investment (but attunement ofc). There is often more than one bonfire for each area (unlike in DeS), you can open shortcuts, skip a LOT of bosses, areas and enemies etc. etc.

    Dark souls is a challenging game, but overwhelming only if the player doesn't explore the world.

    It is not unreasonable to think the spider shield can be found in depths to help players. But why the whole bandit set isn't there, is odd.

    Clerics don't start with the Priest's Hat.

    Never put that together for some reason. Always thought the axe was a funny little detail, but I never put it together with the Shield.

    Very good point with the axe. But it still begs the point, why did two of that specific class go?

    Well i think the warrior is supposed to be the one with the knight armor, and the knight is supposed to be the one with the elite knight armor. Cause you're right they're the only missing ones, but those two enemies are the only other two. It is strange those are the only two classes that don't have their starting gear on.
