Artorias and Darkmoon Builds

Hello guys
Since the DLC will soon be here also for PS3 and XBOX 360 i tought it would be nice to create some new char to use with the upcoming weapons and spells.
So far i created a mage and an assassin, but i still need a definitive build for the char who will equip Artorias set, i'll post here what i came up with, feel free to comment this build and give me tips to made it even better.
Starting class : Warrior
SL : 85
Vit: 25, Att: 14, End: 30, Str: 28, Dex: 23, Res:11, Int: 18, Fth: 18
DX Hand (1): Abyss Greatsword
DX Hand (2): Bare Hand
SX Hand (1): Crest Shield
SX Hand (2): (Ascended) Flame of Pyrmonancy
Ring (1): Dark Wood Grain Ring
Ring (2): Ring of Favor and Protection
Armor: Full Artorias Set

Spell 1: Greater Fireball
Spell 2: Greater Combustion / Black Flame
Spell 3: Fire Tempest

There is the build, i plan to switch the Abyss Greatsword with a Murakumo until the DLC comes out, feel free to comment on it, i'm expecting a lot of help from you guys =D
Now for the second build, since i never really used a Faith build i tought it would be cool to start with a Darkmoon Blade oriented build, but i'm still in deep waters with it, any tip would be extremely useful, just remember that the SL cap must be around 85 - 90. Thanks for the help

It's SL 200 and is going to be using the poison/toxic/acid fog pyromancys as to represent the fact that he throws that slim-like stuff at you in the battle with him. I didn't want to use a cataclyst so that's why i went with this instead.

Edit: Oh, i'll be changing between the Cursed GoA and the Abyss greatsword. As for the endurance, i know it's best to stay at 40, but i made it 46 so that i could have access to all the items i need for this roleplay.

I like it a lot, it's similar to the build i posted, but you're giving much importance to the endurance, wich with Artorias Armor and the Abyss Greatsword is a must! Thanks, i may seriously take it into consideration =D

Yeah, i did try to keep it close to your build as i assumed i might be able to catch your interest with it. I also removed the 2 points into att for the simple thought of roleplaying, since Mr. Arty here doesn't need 'em pyros too much, you still have two spells to use, and those other two points come in handy as well. You could change some of the str points into dex though, so that the spell casting is faster.

Here's a quick change, moving some of the str to dex. Same dmg, but you also get the benefit of the casting time of spells, so it's only a +, and no problem.

With your stats, the DWGR, would have zero effect, you'd be mid rolling.

Yeah i know, it was my mistake (i completely forgotten it will be nerfed), just think of the Wolf Ring instead of the DWGR please ^^

Does it have to be SL85? You could go to the standard 100 for the purposes of the arena. Anyway, I'll provide my take on SL85.

SL 85

Got rid of some dexterity and capped strength at 27 -- that'll get you the most efficient scaling. Furthermore, I took some out of attunement (you now have one slot) and used the saved points to boost endurance to 40, so you can fast roll.

It's a tough build to fit into a SL85 character, though, since Artorias' swords require such a split in stat investment. Artorias builds are probably going to fare better at higher levels play, like the SL101-200 arena. So I'll put down a SL200 build, which should free us of the need to compromise too heavily.

Looks like I was wrong; even at such a high level, an Artorias build requires compromises. For instance, I wanted to keep 14 attunement, but I felt it was better to go all the way to 50 vitality. Likewise, I had a higher faith value while making the build, but chopped off points for extra HP. There's some endurance gouging in there for attaining a fast roll with the armour, sword and greatshield together, and both faith and intelligence are at 20 so you could use the "true" greatsword of Artorias if you chose to. Or you could always use the cursed one, of course.

Anyway, hopefully this post helped to some extent. Artorias builds are some of the trickiest to make, so I generally just run "successor" builds -- characters inspired by Artorias in-setting but not meant to represent the big guy himself. They might use some of his gear, or gear that resembles his, but generally I find that Artorias requires too many soul levels to represent in any reasonable amount of time.
