Dsfix and unlocking fps Empty Dsfix and unlocking fps

    Post by durden1 Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:28 pm

I'm wondering what the implications are for unlocking the games fps using Dsfix. I'm not even sure if the mod is endorsed by this forum since I don't see many posts regarding it, but I'm going to ask anyway.

In the read me file there's a notice saying that it modifies part of the games code and could result in being banned from gfwl. Do people think this is very likely? I would like to have the best possible Dark Souls experience, and the initial boost in resolution from Dsfix made the game go from unbearable, to one of the best games I've played in a long time. But I don't want to get banned and render my copy of the game useless from no online play. Like really these mods aren't hurting anybody or giving any players an unfair advantage, it's just making the game nicer to look at, I don't see what the big deal is.

Just wondering what the consensus is, are most people just saying to hell with and throwing caution to the wind, or is it quite likely that Microsoft will come down with the hammer?

^ To clarify - people got banned for FPS unlocking only. Using DSFix without messing FPS is quite legit.

Roger, guess I'll stay away from it to be safe. I guess the fps issue isn't gonna make or break the game like the resolution issue would have.

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm not even sure if it's true that people got banned because of this, and even if it's not true, I'd advise against it. Why? Because this game was programmed at 30 FPS, it was meant to be played that way. Playing it at 60 fps causes it to feel significantly faster and may have other unintended consequences....

I know common sense seems to indicate that 60 FPS is always better than 30, but if a game is programmed to work at 30, it isn't the wisest thing to unlock it.

    hello
i don't get it: for some reason my game runs better/smoother if i unlock the fps rate and still set the limit to 30. having played 400+ hours on ps3 i prefer these settings and constant 30fps anyway, cause i think the game plays best @30. but so far i did not dare to go online with these settings...
my question: is anyone else doing this and do you guys think i will get problems with gfwl when using these settings online?

Running DSFix with 30 fps (unlocked) for several weeks already. Not banned yet.
