Greatsword of Artorias

I bought DS last year and as a lot of people I kinda had no plan with my toon. I did read that SL120 was popular for various reasons and stopped there. Since it seemed that many of the weapons needed a lot of strength and not really knowing any better, I stacked it to 50. I really enjoyed the game a lot and the pvp, but I stopped playing after NG+.

More to the point, I am back and really enjoying the game. People have gotten way better then I could hope to be with their character control and strategy. I rolled two new characters, a dex based one now at 99 and a sorceress at 81.

My question is I want to make a cleric/ knight at the 100 SL arena level ( as is my focus with all my new toons) and kinda want to be able to use the Greatsword of Artorias with this toon as well. Since I need to have 4 stats up fairly high to do so, is it even worth it? Do people even use this weapon? I never see it and after browsing the pvp builds I have not really seen a set up that would allow for its use.

Anyone have any opinions on this weapon I would love to hear them. Also if you have a toon that uses it can it be done effectively at the 100SL cap, or will my low vit and lack of one stacked skill make it worthless in the arena?

Thank for the input in advance. One thing I like about this game community is the overall positive, friendly atmosphere. It is rare in the game world IMO.

It can be done, but it's not viable. I know your feeling the sword is badass. This is the best I could get out of a SL 100.

Thank you. I see you have the cursed version there...is that the build of your toon or a mock up? If your using that one, do you feel like its better to keep a bare minimum in the required stats and pump vitality or, since the regular greatsword scales w intel, to take advantage of it? Either way your build gives me a good plan so thank you. I might just do it for the fun of it even if its no good pvp.

Well the cursed version gives you ~400 pure physical AR, while the light version gives you ~475 split AR. I'm sure the cursed version is more powerful, but will need testing. In either case, it's best to leave them at base stats since increasing just 1 stat gives poor AR scaling. It's only worth it if you increase all the stats to 40 in my opinion.

i remember reading some where that the new Abyss Sword version of it, since it has no Magic damage or does it scale with Int/Faith... if you don't meet the requirements for Int/Faith it doesnt matter....

if you wield a weapon or shield that has faith/int require ments with out meeting said requirements the weapon will bounce off targets after a strike, it doesn't matter if it scales with those stats (moveset is normal though.)

Use the Abyss version, it's like the cursed but scales with humanity. It'll still be weaker than every other greatsword for the stat investment, you might as well bring your toon to 200 and level up a lot of different stats for it.

The abyss version is currently only PC version yeah? None the less thank you for all the input. Currently at
17/12/20/24/18/10/20/20. it was quit challenging to get to Anor Londo BS with my stats so spread out lol!
as of now with the Sword upgraded once its under welming. Looks like i will have to pump faith to make use of it. Maybe this will have to be a toon in the 100-200 bracket. No worries though it just means I get to play more DS tonight!
