Off-hand weapons
I need to know of ANY weapons that work effectively in the off-hand. not for parrying, for actual damage. any and all that deal at least a respectable amount of damage. as with my other threads, i don't wanna hear how its not a good idea. i'm well aware of that already. thats half the fun though isn't it? XD

Re: Off-hand weapons
I like off-handing an uchigatana or falchion, does decent damage and it's relatively quick to attack with. Also nice for catching people trying to strafe for your back I've gotten quite a few bs cancels because of that

Spear and Rapiers. Easily the best off hand weapons.

Re: Off-hand weapons
Dagger: Crap damage, but parrying and back stab cancelling.
Spear: Reasonable Damage, Very Respectable Range. A good 80% of your weapons strengths automatically are covered.
Boneshield: Great Blocking and Damage abilities if made elemental.
Butcher Knife: Great Range, Attack Speed, Damage, and Poise Break. Also minor healing.
Any Greatsword: Surprisingly effective offhand.

Re: Off-hand weapons
I've seen the QFS in the offhand; its user was very skillful and it's fast, strong, can parry, and has better range than other curved swords.

That sounds quite interesting, actually.

Re: Off-hand weapons
Priscilla's dagger can be great in the off hand if your going for heaving bleeding and using a katana. When they are about to bleed out from the katana hit them with the dagger and take 50% health.

Re: Off-hand weapons
wow, didn't expect so many reply's lol. honestly i think that when you dual wield you should be able to block with both weapons XD
also, priscilla's dagger is out the window, i don't kill her. hell, i can barely kick lautrec off the edge. i don't usually kill what isn't attacking lol

Re: Off-hand weapons
I pretty much always dual wield, but I prefer weapons that also have the option to parry. Lately I've been using the Whip. It gets a lot of hate for being a generally weak weapon, but it actually does decent damage, can parry, has awesome reach, and plenty of style. Otherwise, I use a rapier, katana, or PGS. Or Priscilla's dagger. Pretty solid choice to use with the CB in your main hand.

Re: Off-hand weapons
the whip eh? thats not a bad idea, and like you said, its got style. perhaps it was meant as an off-hand weapon, but due to the general weakness of the play-style when used by newer people, it just didn't get used as intended. also, i don't chaos it up, i use the iaito. i imagine dual-wielding the same weapon would be a bad idea, so using a second one's prolly out the window lol. again, i pretty much refuse to kill priscilla, so the dagger is not gonna happen lol. i won't even kill the hollows down in new londo. if it doesn't attack me i won't attack it. bad habit probably, but its how i roll. rapiers an interesting choice as well. thanks for the suggestion all

Fist weapons and halberds are decent off-hand weapons too.

Re: Off-hand weapons
fist weapons are good, but their range becomes an issue real quick. already tried that once XD. halberd may be an interesting option though

Re: Off-hand weapons
IMHO nothing beats a spear in your offhand, but the lucerne is also an epic choice for offhanding because of it's awkward attack, and pure thrust damage.

Re: Off-hand weapons
Why has noone mentioned the Whips ?
They cant be Parried but you can Parry with them and the Damage is quite nice.
But its not that fast though .
Give it a shot , i was quite succesfull with a Chaos Notched Whip

Re: Off-hand weapons
Spear may be the technical best for offhanding, but I like having a dagger in the offhand, helps keep those 0 poise builds off you when they come in for a katana attack, and lets you pop a hit off on heavier weapon users and roll away before they can swing. It parries too, which can be pretty sweet.

I love having spears in the off hand. Nothing is better than having a darkwraith run at you and getting poked to death

Re: Off-hand weapons
The weapons i use when dual wielding:
Great scythe: The r2 has great range and damage, useful when you're using a short weapon in your main hand. It's too bad that you can't attack twice though.
Spear: It's fast and has great range. what more is there to say? great when used with a UGW
Rapier: A shorter version of the spear that can parry.
Gargoyle halberd: It's long and does a lot of damage, it staggers a lot when you miss though.

The Gold Tracer has a really great offhand moveset...probably because it's a weapon designed to be in the offhand, lol.

Re: Off-hand weapons
Has anyone tried Zweihander on the offhand? You can actually combo with it if you use a fast weapon, and the threat of a fast and a slow weapon can throw off timing.

Re: Off-hand weapons
I can't wait to cosplay Ciaran in the DLC, shame the gold tracer can't parry in the offhand though. It also has an annoyingly low damage output, even the PGS does better.

Two Words :
Fast, Bleed
(also the Damage is pretty good with around 400 AR at 40 Dex iirc)
