    Worth purchasing?

Post by Wierdoom on Sat Oct 06, 2012 2:17 pm

Hello. I've recently been considering purchasing this game for the PC, but as suggested by the title I am uncertain. I already own the game on the PS3, but I'm attracted to the PC version primarily by the promise of new content along with the inherent technical benefits of PCs over consoles - modding, higher resolutions, and the like. Would you say that it is worth purchasing the game again, or would I be better off waiting for the DLC to come out on consoles and get that instead?

It was worth it to me just for the clarity of picture alone. I'm noticing things I never noticed on the big screen... many, many things. Maybe you have a better picture than I have on my tv though, so it wouldn't be as big a difference.

The down side is that now that I know what the game SHOULD look like I'm going to have to buy a better TV.

I think it's worth it because of mods! All of the graphical enhancements and things like that are what I'm referring to. A lot of cool mods are on the dark souls nexus site, and they're all pretty easy to install or mess around with.

It just feels like there are more possibilities for the game on pc. It also looks much better. The only downside is that you might be running into hackers or cheaters more often than on consoles, but I really haven't run into that many in all of my playthroughs so I'd say it's not a huge concern.

    Worth it.

Mods and resolution fixes aside, the latency issue that plagues the console versions (lagstabs, case in point) is generally nowhere near as glaring on the PC version. Don't get me wrong. There's still lag, and it ultimately depends on the person's individual connection, but I've personally had supremely less lag troubles on PC. No change in connection speed. That alone makes it worth the forty bucks for me.

Also, you'll be able to use your PS3 controller (with the use of a free third party program) to play, so you won't have to worry about the game's horrendous keyboard and mouse support. Win after win.
