My sister broke my hard drive a few months back. I lost 400 gigs worth of pictures and since then I've pretty much given up on it.

Oh man, that sucks. I'm studying photography and journalism atm, also planning on becoming a photographer, so i know the pain of losing a big amount of valuable photos, but even then, DON'T. GIVE. UP. Seriously, you should keep on trying, take photos again, but don't do it to get back all those photos you've lost. Do it because you want to. You won't get anywhere by giving up, and a loss is a loss, that's what you'll have to get used to, so just start over. Think of some nice place you've always wanted to go to and take a couple of photos. It's not the amount of photos that's important, it's the quality. So just go out there, and start over. Because, if that's enough to have you give up, then you could not have wanted it too much, it would be understandable to take a break though. My advice is you go out and take a couple of photos that you usually don't take. For example, i mainly take photos of the nature, rarely anything else, however when i lost a big amount of photos last year, i just tried something new. I started taking photos of beggers, well, people with economical problems really, not that it matters to you. Just my advice, hope it helps, and good luck with your dream.

Oh, and checked your photos, you've got some talent so you really shouldn't give up on it.

Edit: Sorry for the big sloppy text, but i hope that if you read it through it might help you get back on track.
