Soul Level 1 Challenge Naked/Melee Only

Just finished uploading the last video in my Soul Level 1 challenge run. Melee only, no shield, no pyromancy, and no armour. Was a lot of (hellish!) fun and definitely helped me to appreciate the game even more. Hoping it might be of interest to both new and experienced players.

If this isn't the done thing on the forum then I apologise and I'll willingly delete the topic asap. Otherwise I hope you enjoy watching! And I'll happily take note of any suggestions for challenge runs for the future.

Nicely done, the new content is by far the biggest challenge for SL1 playthroughs now. Up there with 4kings and Orn and Smo. I'm doing my first SL1 playthrough of Demon's Souls right now, it is really fun. It is actually easier then i expected. I have world 2 done,and every other world i have 2 bosses down.

Thanks! And definitely, I'm so glad Fromsoft didn't hold back. In terms of difficulty my top 4 would be:

1.) Oreos and Smores
2.) Manus
3.) Kalameet
4.) 4 Kings

Best thing for me was that this was my first time running through the DLC so it was all the more terrifying!

I wish I had a PS3 to try out Demon's Souls, if only to see how it all began. As with the Final Fantasy games I guess whichever one you play first tends to be your favourite? (Hence me loving VIII whilst everyone else of my age-group loved VII) Good luck with finishing your playthrough!

The DLC definitely ramps up the difficulty for low level stuff. I brought up a level 50 dex toon, and found two people to summon for Artorias. One was killed, and I used up 19 estus getting myself and the other player through. Didn't help that we were both dex players. He was dual wielding gold and dark tracers, and I was using a bow with some pyro.

I wouldn't say i like Demon's more, Dark was an improvement. Demon's had more of an impact on me though, cause i'm sure like you with dark i had never played a game like it. Well it is an action rpg, but we all know it is like no other action rpg.

Mind you, you have inspired me to try out a no-shield run with the new content, but I know that unlike you I'm gonna crash and burn!

I have undertaken a Cestus only run, but this was prior to the new content being released, and I only got passed O&S, before giving up to undertake my latest run of the new content. Unfortunately, I am not able to continue this run, as I brought the new content on disc as part of the Prepare to Die edition, and the new disc doesn't recognise any of my old saves.

...and I though what I did was amazing. You did everything I did...WITHOUT armor!
Also, I wish I had known of the club 2-hit strategy before I challenged Gwyn with a hand axe face-to-face. Frustrating.

Anyways, good job.

Don't know whats the point of those runs, why not just make it a no damage run since its technically the same?

Yup, spot on. It grows on you like nothing else I've ever played.

Sounds properly intense! Artorias must be one of the most popular characters to co-op against now. Quite possibly the best designed boss in the game. Out of interest, did you and your friend poison him or make him go toxic? Just wondered if it was possible!

Ah man, that really sucks! Is that for PS3?

But trust me if you got passed O&S with a Cestus only run then you're more than capable of doing the new content on a shiedless run. Although I have got to say you will curse eternally the man/woman and all of their ancestors who designed the abominable Oolacile Mages. GRRRRR!!!

Jeezzzz I bet that was tedious to the extreme! I mean I feel like the hand-axe is underrated generally because it can actually produce 'decent' dps but there are some fights where it is simply not going to be helping!

I still cannot believe how good the Reinforced Club is - it's simply ridiculous. It has everything. It stuns, it's enchantable, it causes bleeding, it has range, you can get multiple copies and it has a stupidly good R2 attack. When I next jump into creating a pvp character or something of the like I'm definitely going to throw aesthetics to the wind and try out all the clubs. If they're even half as good as the Reinforced Club I'll be happy.
