At least one of these moments I can remember was actually the Ancient Dragon. I escape a narrow death from a flying Hydra (if that wasn't enough) and find a bonire "Yay" then suddenly I see wings flapping and I think my heart skipped a beat as I realized it was a massive dragon. I can remember just staring at it for half a minute waiting for impending death...that never came.

I froze in fear...
So I would like to make this topic as to what moments in the PvE world had you frozen in fear. Did you get caught by a Black Knight and you didn't see it coming? Did a BP Black Knight suddenly appear? Did that first time with the Hydra leave you speechless? Did those bonewheels in PW make you realize new fear?

Re: I froze in fear...
Scariest zones...the Depths for the first time I went through there (and the second ), because of the Butcher that drops from the ceiling, and the Basilisks...while I don't find their looks scary, hearing them while not seeing them plus the fear of getting cursed was rather stressing, hehe. Also the Tomb of Giants, because of the Skeleton Beasts. Again, it's these sounds they make when they are idle, and the fact that you can't see a thing...brrr.

Re: I froze in fear...
I'm frozen with fear right now. In fact my whole games frozen, I daren't play it so I've stopped. The reason? I have to go against the 4 Kings in newgame+ and everyone says they're mega hard. Sometimes a little knowledge can be an offputting thing.

I freeze in fear whenever I look at the loading screen, and then it goes away about 5 minutes after watching the bonifre animation, thne I get sad and cry under my bed and reflect on life since my DkS disc isnt working anymore.

Re: I froze in fear...
I was a bit intimidated when I got the scene with Pinwheel. Then I hit him three times with a black knight halberd +5.
Also I freeze up every time I have to deal with the four kings on any NG+.
Then there are still the Tomb of the Giants which I was told horror stories about. They were right :pale: . *** those skeledogs.

Re: I froze in fear...
My first time in the depths after managing to defeat the Channeler I blindly took the turn at the end of the hallway and fell right into the deepest part of the basilisk den. I stood paralyzed thinking I'd lucked out and they hadn't aggro'd, it wasn't until I saw the first creep across the edge of my inventory menu that I realized my error.
The three basilisks had gotten caught walking around the corner so it only appeared they weren't coming for me. I was in heavy armor and the three frogs attacked in a flawless formation one from range and two rushing trapping me into the corner. I stood staring at the bonfire for a few minutes dumbstruck before quiting for the night.

Re: I froze in fear...
My first playthrough I was terrified standing outside Gwyn's fog gate. I had taken the guide out to learn how to get through Bed of Chaos, and I peeked ahead at Gwyn's attacks. Scared the hell out of me. There were so many combos, and half of them seemed to say, "...attack can be blocked but should probably be evaded as it will likely break your guard and the follow-up may kill you."
Anyway, my fears were well founded, as he killed me many, many times. Couldn't imagine at the time you could parry a boss.

Re: I froze in fear...
The noises those goddamn rats made in the Painted World, I didn't know what it was at first when I entered the building and heard these horrible grunting noises, and it scared the hell out of me. I went really slowly after that, expecting to be ambushed by some horrible monstrosity, but it was just rats. I was also terrified of the harpies my first time, as at that point their grab would insta-kill me, and it seemed kind of random when they would show up. I didn't go for the RSS until I was much farther in my playthrough.

Re: I froze in fear...
Probably when I was cursed by a Gravelord for the very first time. Thankfully for me, it glitched and I didn't have to deal with any Black Phantoms, but the prompt alone made me extremely worried. "Disasters? What kind of disasters? I thought I was already in the middle of one!" And while I didn't freeze, I still freaked out when I fell in one of the basilisk pits in the Depths. Mostly because of the statues, the eyes, all those derpy frogs surrounding me, and the short little bar with a skull near the bottom of my screen quickly filling up.
