I'm sure this is old news but i just checked the difference in HP between 40 vit and 99 and really? Really? REALLY?

Its less than 600 hp of a difference. 99 vit only gets you 1900 HP. Is that right? :|

But... 59 points for less than 600 hp? Thats insane. I figured at 99 vit youd at least surpass 2000 hp

Yes. My main guy is sl 451 or so with 88 Vit. I don't wear FaP or MoM with it so sometimes an invader 350 levels below me actually have higher vitality.

The whole game system is based around stats being a means to an end rather than highly empowering factors in their own right. A SL200 character is more or less as good as a SL700 character, since the lower level of the two will have maxed out everything important for that build anyway. So the SL700 character will have a more diverse array of options at their disposal and be able to "cover" more builds, but the SL200 one will be just as good (or perhaps even better) at their speciality.

Yes, good thing, too. If the diminishing returns weren't I'd have about 3,600 hp. At that point I'd probably put the FaP ring and MoM on just for kicks.

Oh I know. The difference between 1325 and 1595 messes me up :| I really thought it would be more though. Proper upset.

I think diminishing returns in this game are great, because characters never feel like super powerful demigods (or rather, they may feel like that because of player skill/accomplishments, not because you farmed and pumped some stats). In other games if you get to high levels and pump stats your character starts absolutely destroying everything with little effort, but in Dark Souls it doesn't matter your SL, if you get too **** and are not careful enemies can still kill you. At the same time, you can have different playstyles depending on which stats you level and how you prefer playing, so I think it gets the stat system almost perfectly (I say almost because of resistance being useless and magic being a bit overpowered).
