Sooooo does everyone tank-flip at SL 100?

Post by goober0331 on Fri Sep 28, 2012 12:00 am

Got my first toon to SL 100 for the arena, been doing some invasions for over an hour now, and everyone is tankflipping. Everyone. Its amusing that people are still doing it since the patch is due in a few weeks for the consoles, but its also so very, very frustrating.

Not only is everyone tank flipping, but I've have seen a huge influx in the number of people who spam WoG and TWoP, then proceed to act like their style of play is somewhat challenging or unique.....

I guess I'm just ranting but tank-flipping is such an annoying issue with the game, and it seems like its all the craze at anything 100+

It will still be done after the patch to, just with the wolf ring instead, and better elemental defenses.

    Just laugh at them.
We know those builds will be useless after the patch... they probably don't care, because they will just bottomless box glitch over their new ge-
    Wait...

They would have to unpatch to use the BB Glitch.
This means the Bottomless Box is in the Depths.
This means it's going to take them a while to spec a new char, seeing as most of them likely lack the skill to legitly beat the Capra Demon anymore.

So just laugh at the Tank Flippers, and know that those of us that fast roll are at a -major- advantage when the DLC comes; since we get a headstart on new content, are comfortable with fast roll, and likely more comfortable with our chars overall.

A lot of those noobs will be like fish out of water for a while; but do be warned: they are going to latch onto the new sorceries for a while. It's going to be like Wrath of The Gods 2.0: noone is good at dodging it yet, so it'll seem overpowered, and so it will attract the nublets like swarms.

    SIMMER DOWN BUDDY bounce

    You simmered down yet :drunken:

    Alright cool happy

Tank flipping is a part of Dark Souls. Not a very fun part of Dark Souls but a part nonetheless. You see all these hopefuls who are just counting off the days till the DLC, thinking that soon their most hated flipping Havel enemies will just disappear? Well let me tell you first and foremost that it's all in vain.

You ever hear the saying "If there's a will there's a way"? Well this also applies to Dark Souls. I challenge any forum member to head over to MugenMonkey and come back telling me that the patch solved the problem. At the very least we will see the ninja flipping replaced by fast rolls.

Even still it should be noted that a crippling blow has been struck. Though they may retain their uniforms like Nazi scum, they will be carrying severely weakened gear thanks to the patch. They will also have to become much smarter as to wear they invest their stats.

So in conclusion. Will they still run around like their not carrying 200 tons on their backs? Yes. Will they still pose a serious threat? I hardly think so winking

    Um?
Domnhall of Xena is in the Depths.
And... Domnhall is where the bottomless box originally was purchased from.

BB-Glitch was patched. In order to get the glitch to work, they'd have to unpatch, which means version 1.0

I've played on lvl 100 for few weeks now (with PTDE builds) and I like it, but honestly I don't see too much lvl 100 players yet and most of the lvl 100 guys I see are just vitality monsters with elemental weapons or pyromancers...well, I guess lvl 100's will pop out more on the future weeks happy

personally, i'm going to keep leveling up when the DLC comes out, and ignore the battle of stoicism... instead i'll keep going to level 713, in human form, and let everyone invade me while i use my fog ring and dragonslayer box to wreck havoc...

    I've never been about stoicism.

It's not really an issue for unskilled players to use stupid *** tactics to try and make up for their igorance toward the game.. If they twop.. Twop lasts 11 seconds........ if they spam wogs.. every single wog is a free backstab if you dodge.. It's not FUN to fight tryhards unless you get pissed off then it's always fun to show what a real tryhard can do. I always love doing that to people who kill me and think their skilled with a buffed dex weapon against a slow tank with a small shield. Or people like Rb frosty spamming magic and roll backstab fishing. If people want to be tryhard, tryhard back or just go host somewhere or get on a Twitch Fight club or something.

Except I've been encountering these TWoP and WoG users who are waiting for me right when I spawn from the invasion, cast their TWoP before I can react and then bum rush me.

It's annoying and disheartening when I can invade across multiple different areas and see very similar outcomes.

Man the old twop wog spam is as lame as it gets....on my sl 350 forest hunter I had a crew pull that on me a couple times reccently....they didn't realize I am a more of a drakwraith than a hunter tho...I spawned from sifs and had my rtsr triggered already crown of dusk and 1st born...full tilt try hard 1500 dmg into full havels wog setup!

I snuck up from behind while they were waiting at the stairs....the twop chump cast it as I started to spam the 1st of my 9 wog I have....the wog guys didn't even get to cast his 1st wog and he was dead....the twop stone great sword loser make it one step and he was dead...I used 3 and spammed the 6 over there dead bodies lol!

Oh the forest it never gets old happy

I disagree, dead angling is easy to counter and VERY punishable. Next time somebody dead angle hits you with wog and your near their back stunned. Tap that r1 once and it WILL backstab. Wogs is a hard enough spell to use and not get backstabbed, I think that the dead angle option is good tbh. Now my tryharding mode dead-angle to backstab hits are kind of sad, but I only do it vs tryhard. We need the option to tryhard, people should just learn to avoid it. Plus many people don't know about dead angle option regardless. I didn't for quiet a long time.

I don't feel that being capable of punishing it is a good enough argument for saying that dead angle should exist.

It's a *** AoE, a circular AoE with a 360 degree angle. All that force is not moving in the same direction, so if i'm 90 degree's to your side, my shield should block it still. I feel extremely cheated when someones spamming it while turns slightly to the side, causing it to become unblockable. It's the only dead angle that seriously pisses me off in this entire game, it breaks the boundaries of the minimal amount of realism i demand from these types of games.

I disagree, it is blockable. Turn in the right direction and it blocks (tested many times). Plus, just roll once and it'll never hit you. I understand the realism effect but where is the realism in idea of the spells in the first place? I can't base my opinions off damands of realism in games because games have mechanics and items/spells/equipment all of the time that could be critisized for the same reason.

I stated "minimal amount of realism" I never expect a game to have hyper realism, but when it comes to small aspects like this, i start to get to the "ok, that's not cool though, fix that."

You state "Turn to the right", but Wrath of the Gods is a very fast spell, so i got less then half a second to respond to the fact that they turned to the left, unlock my target, and then turn and block. It's not possible to expect me to do that with 3 to 4 wrath of the gods in a row. (I block this spell because rolling shows them you're scared, blocking it and taking 20 damage shows them that their bull manure isn't impressing you, and they normally stop). Being capable of dead angling with a spell that is a circular blast around you just doesn't make any sense, at all. You can't dead angle by turning your back to people with any other spell either.
