A weapon with a wide swing like a great scythe is what I would recommend, doesn't have to be divine. As for humanity, the skele-babbies and rats in the Depths are both pretty good spots, until you get the DLC that is. Everyone who played it knows what I'm talking about...

I find the enchanted falchion you get in the archives to be the most effective, even at <20 int and no upgrades it does enough damage to 1 hit them on NG and it has fast, low and seamless sweeping attacks that prevent the little skelies from counter attacking. Your gonna want to kill them up close anyway since 30% of the humanity will disappear if your not already in a position to pick it up the second their death animation ends.

I use +10 fire weps, any with a sweep. Seems to one shot them fairly easy. I have also heard that the Q Furysword is good as well.

As Hellion said, a +10 fire weapon works very well. I'm using a Gargoyle Tail Axe +10 fire and the sweeping action can kill 8-10 of the little blighters in one go, very effective. A divine weapon is not needed.
Equip Bloodshield as it "Raises Bleed/Poison/Curse resist by 25%, also when shield is on back" and the Gargoyle Axe "increases Bleeding, Poison and Toxin resistance x2"
The little skellies can really do a lot of damage.
Equip Covetous Gold Serpent Ring and 10 Humanity and you're good to go.
