Kick them, break their block. Otherwise BS works too.

dough if they have high stability the kick will just knock you back instead. minus the animation, u still get bumped back tho.

believe it or not parrying works best. they come right up to you which is perfect range for them, and all of their attacks are thrusts so.. yeah parry them.

    edit:

also.. i find i do this sometimes- i don't turtle as hard but still..
try just backing off and not attacking. if you see them just hovering at range they're just waiting to counter your attacks, just stand or backpeddle and stare at them- let them see you understand their gameplan. they'll have to try something different if they're not being aggressive and thatll let you get a parry if they decide to just be aggressive and turtle.

^ is likely to get you parried.

use dung pies to toxify them and then turtle yourself. Stay close enough to bs a moss attampt.

Not if you position yourself correctly. I've successfully chased down a onion turtle with BKS and a Rapier. Just never gave him a chance to attack. The dash r1 is very helpful.

also predictable, thus parriable. The bleed dodge throws a wrench into that plan as well.

Stay in there face while blocking and wait for them to drop their shield to recover their stamina, then attack. Even though I can only get one attack in at a time while doing this it still works, plus they normally change strategies after I get in a couple hits while doing this.

How has no one said SHOTEL yet Look Skyward

I remember the turtle rapier spammers when I host the burg and have PW ready...I cast PW and come in R2 them if they have a greatshield and just be a little more cautious if they show any signs of parry skills with a normal shield!

Also parrys just stand right in there face and parry there turtle azz out!

Why are we making this so complicated? Pivot BS. That's all there is to it. Just stay on him. As soon as he attacks, he gets BSed.

You can turtle them back andmake the fight boring for them. Alternately you cam spam R1 2 handed in an attempt to break their guard, but you have to watch out for parries. Poisoning them can usually make them panic and won't turtle anymore.

Personally I think swinging into the shield of someone using a rapier is pretty stupid. Theyre made for crits, and you're basically saying "hey... parry this".

Well of course that's the best way Dmg but destroying them with a shotel while they turtle behind that greatshield is so much fun...and they can't parry either its funny as hell....you can sense the fear while they keep back away!!!

Greatshield is a different story. I feel like I never see players with greatshields anymore. What gives? Apart from it being dumb, I mean.

Dmg dmg dmg you have been away from the burg for to long my friend...that's the new trend hiding behind a GS and rapier poking...its so pro and fun to fight against lol!

Seriously tho I keep my shotel right next to my rapier just in case!

If they turtle with normal shield tho I just go straight for a pivot BS twisted

That's more or less why I'm waiting it out. Mid-level arena PvP will hopefully renew my interest in the game.

Oxy's build is pretty beastly, but I made a similar high damage faith build that I'll convert to 100 for the arena. Sometimes we'll get together and duel 'em, which basically means we take turns killing each other in ten seconds or less. Haha. I'm not really into trying to get the poise and the fastroll and the hp and high defense and all that jazz. I'm mostly just focused on style now, both in the look of the build and the way I play it. So I'll probably be doing that more than just trying to run in and stomp *ss as fast as possible. I'm just past the "stack poise/2hand the CB/go apeshit" thing. Know what I mean?

Oh ya dmg remember when we used to run the kiln with the setup...ahhh the good old day eh!

Oxys buils is crazy and he's an intense crazy guy to fight...I'm not sure one of our fights has ever lasted longer than a minute!

I couldn't agree more lately I have been trying to use every weapon and do different stuff...I like to sacrifice poise for dmg output and with the dlc balance it will also be more viable!

I will be running 18 poise bellowing/leo and swapping bellowing for wolf if needed...I have been working on my pyro staggers with halbert follow ups...a cfb to the face with crown/bellowing followed by a halbert leo R1..... :affraid:

Haha. That's right out of Oxy's playbook. He calls it the "Hellbird". Haha. But yeah, the dude is super aggressive, and if you don't match his aggression he'll just steamroll you. I'm trying to come up with a sorc build that can be as effective as a pyro or faith build, but it's rough so far. It's pretty much the only build type I haven't explored thoroughly at this point. And I don't want to cop out and make it a buff build. I want the MLGS/MLBH/Velka's and Logan's cat. And I want it to be a caster. Basically just CHSM/CSS/Chameleon.

I invade the burg and I don't see many hosts doing that, it must be a trend for invaders. The hosts really tend to be the better duelists in general; when I host I own, but I meet some fantastic hosts who whoop my @ss when invading. I guess the worse players just don't like risking it; my 120 killed the Taurus and I don't feel like a NG+. But Greatshields really seem uncommon, I only ever see a few.
