as the name implies, i wanna know if you felt bad for sif when he started limping. i noticed it on my second character, because me and him killed eachother so fast on my first. on my second though, i didn't have any magic to speack of and was full melee-ing him, so when he jumped away, almost dead, i noticed he started limping. i was only doing this for the ring for the the abyss, but it made me feel like an *** of epic proportions.....

In my mind Sif is being super loyal, protecting the grave of his master. Willing to sacrifice himself for his dead master, deserves sympathy. Dont confuse sympathy for mercy though, no hesitation on my part finishing him off. If there is one enemy in this game I have respect for, its without a doubt Sif. Duty unfortunately decrees we end his life.

First time I fought him I must've comboed him at the end cause I didn't see the limp. So the second time around when I did I was confused and got super suspicious he was planning something. Took me another 5 minutes to kill Sif because I was being so cautious.

I was under the impression Sif would limp away on my first playthrough. So I untargeted and ran to the side of the arena... while he limped his way to me. It literally takes him about 2 minutes to get to you. When I realized he wouldn't run away, I gave him a true warrior's death.
I gave him the Gravelord's Sword Dance. A sword for every soldier he has slain.

He gave me quite a bit of trouble on my first playthrough when I didn't know that a shield was a thing that could be upgraded to block better, so when i finally got him down and killed him I was pretty happy. Every other time though, it makes me feel a bit sad.

I will answer your question with a question...
Does Sif FEEL BAD when he slices your hp away sending you back to your bonfire with lost humanity?

pendant, animals have a very deep sense of loyalty. they may not think it through as much as we do, but thats how they can be so loyal, they don't have the cognitive thought to distrust someone who has proven trustworthy, and eventually bonded with them. they accept you as part of their "pack" so to speak. there are actually plenty of animals who mourn the death of such people, and tend to hang around places they associated with said person.

considering your there to defile the grave of artorias, just for a ring to make the abyss not hurt, why wouldn't he attack?.

I didn't feel bad - I have a distinct hate for dogs as they do for me... I know he is a wolf - but in essence it is still of the canine-esque species. I didn't pity him, I just thought eff' it... End his misery - heh...
