    Homing Soulmass Question

Post by callipygias on Sun Sep 16, 2012 5:04 pm

I'm building a sorcerer on the pc. Right now she has 38 int and is using the Sorcerer's Cat, wearing Dusk's Crown, and has the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring on. So I'm in Duke's Archives, right after dying to Seath. I kill a couple of the creepy octo-guards with Homing Soulmass, 392 damage, then I remember I need Humanity so I swap to the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring... and suddenly Homing Soulmass is doing 452 damage.

I've done it over and over and it's always the same. The Soul Arrow spells work like you'd think, Bellowing Dc Ring amplifies their damage, but every ring EXCEPT the Bellowing Dc ring gives me the 452.

Is it simply that more of your Mass is hitting the target? It could just be that occasionally one misses giving you that lower damage.

Yeah, with Dragon Crest it probably takes just 1 orb to kill them i.e. 392 damage. Without, it takes 2 orbs to kill them i.e. 452/2= 226 per hit
Those enemies probably have about 300-350 HP

That makes sense. Great thinking, and thank you!

If they all hit at once it will show more compared to 4 hitting first with enough to kill. The extra damage after what is needed will not show. I've seen it quite a bit with that spell.
