Three way backstab

So i was doing some forest hunting and invaded some gankers who where busy chopping up another catbro. I run in and BS the host and at the same time the host BS the other hunter and the hunter BS the phantom. It was really strange cuz the host took massive dmg but didnt get into the BS animation. The other hunter was dead after the BS but also didnt go in the animation and the phantom was also dead and he was the only one who got the BS animation.
I quickly finished the host and messaged the other hunter what just happened and he was baffled also.
It was kinda hillarious and made me think of the human centipede movie lol.

In my 500+ hours of pvp ive never seen this happen so my question is:
Does anyone got any idea what happened here???

Hahahahaha. Because of unavoidable lag sometimes there are multiple inputs for an event that is supposed to only have one. So for example, as a forest hunter I've double backstabbed a host with a fellow phantom. Everyone just had an opportunity to backstab, hit the proper button and everyone got it.


I've had instances were I and another player have backstabed eachother at the same time. It happened a lot more in demons souls.

The Funny thing is you get the damage from both attacks , making it pretty much an instant kill XD
