Great Magic Weapon - Worth it?

So I'm a Warrior level 143. I use mainly sword and shield and rarely some pyromancy.
Is it worth putting a few points in intelligence so I can use Great Magic Weapon? Does it add decent extra damage to my weapon?

I usually use a Zewihander +15 or Black Knight Halberd +5.

This is simply for PvE.

You won't be able to use buffs with your Black Knight Halbred, but they'll work on your Zweihander, as for if it's worth it or now, I'd say that they work better with Dex Weapons as they add a flat damage bonus to the weapon, now that's not to say that they don't add a little extra kick to strength weapons, but it's not really worth the stat investment.

I'd say in your case no, but if you make a future build that focuses on Dex and Int, I'd say definitely...at least until you can get Crystal Magic Weapon, which is just swiggins.

What's your current stats?

I agree with the above poster, but if you don't have INT at level 143, you're either Vit/End/Str/Dex or Vit/End/Str/faith or some other combination.

Put up your stats, and maybe the answer is "Yes, but switch your weapon to make it more effective."

Are you leveling up anyway? Where are your stats right now? If you're gonna level up anyway I say 'why the hell not?' I realize that buffs do more damage on faster weapons, but that doesn't mean they don't add damage to slower weapons. +15 Zwei buffed will destroy.

if you're already level 143, you're probably not scared to get a few more levels for int... at 15 points it's probably fine to go get it.

to be honest, you'd probably see a FAR LARGER RETURN using power within... it's pyromancy. i think it's a 40% damage inrease. and it lasts a lot longer than weapon buffs. it's like 3 minutes i think instead of 1 minute?

also, since power within is not a weapon buff... you can use it with ANY weapon. and it requires no stat investment. so it's basically a free any-class 40% 3min damage increase.

Int 15 gives you lots of cool spells though, like chameleon.

And most importantly, magic weapon buffs look kind of cool, while PW makes you look like Pigpen.

But it's true, invest your souls in an upgraded pyroflame, power within will rock insanely at patch 1.06.

Depending on how far you want to level, sunlight blade could be an option too.

I guess it's worth it, like they said might as well if you are already that high of level. Make sure you use the Oolacile catalyst, it has 180 magic adj regardless of how much INT you have. So it is much better then any other catalyst with your stats.

No, to get it you need to purchase it from Dusk. Shes the NPC that sells the spells hidden weapon,chameleon,hidden body,repair,ext.

To be honest, if you don't have that catalyst then it's not worth using Great Magic Weapon. You would need to raise your INT way higher then 15 for it to be worth it, and at that point you might as well aim for Crystal Magic Weapon and would be close to SL200.
