    Vagrant Documentation

Post by Knight Alundil on Fri Sep 14, 2012 10:37 pm

Having actually came into contact with a vagrant and being in a position to take screenshots etc. i've managed to gather some information that is well known i'm sure, however there are no screenshots/evidence for the wiki.

This is the first siting I had of it. Right where you summon Beatrice for four kings.

This is just a nice close up I got. As you can see this is a dark/evil vagrant of red and black coloring. You will notice that you can see my lock on "ring" in the center however there are other similar looking rings floating upwards from the center of the vagrant. You can see more of this in the following pictures.

These two pictures show the vagrants jumping attack. It leaps through the air and swipes at you with its lobster like claw.

These two show it's swiping attack. Pretty basic stuff.

The defeated vagrant and just so everyone can see I got a twin humanity from it.

There was also an attack it did once that I could not get it to repeat. It leaned forward, pointing the short, white tentacles on its head (?) towards you and shot out 1 little white orb for each tentacle towards you. They do not chase you but they do not go straight.

Hope this helps anyone with questions about them big grin

The first time I came in contact with one of these i was in the middle of grinding shards off the Balder knights in the undead parish. It spawned behind me ON TOP of the alter and promptly stunned me resulting in a backstab from one of the Balders I was fighting for an instant kill. I was not amused.

Besides that in the 300+ hours I've put into this game I have yet to see another. It's great to be able to see one close up like this!

Yeh I know! I lucked out!

I think this kind (red ones) have that stun attack which is like a sunlight spear. Not 100% if its red or blue ones though.

    I've actually co-op'd with a vagrant.

I took a shot from Lautrec's ganker buddy so I ran upstairs to heal. I get up there and think, "Oh ****, now a vagrant too?" I didn't realize that this was Lautrec's world, so when they got up there the vagrant attacked and aggro'd them all except Lautrec, whom I was free to kill in peace. I named him Clampy the Vagrant.

They're almost non-existent. Played more than 500 hours of DkS and came across 1 or 2 lol.

One was in the Archives shooting lasers at me. The other in NLR near Beatrice.

    I think it's a failed thingy.

yea Varying sizes as in different types of vagrants. Some do more damage than others. This one in the photo I would assume was rather weak based off its simple appearance. The host unfortunately never got the chance to see him twisted

Well Sirs, you should have a casual look at my Avatar - that is my forest vagrant buddy, I have met him rather frequently as my Forest Hunter toons and he has aided me in many ganks too!

Great video, I had no idea that undead rapport worked on gravelord bps.

I've also never seen a vagrant. Are they more common on Xbox, like miracle resonance?

Then you are in the minority. Most PS3 and xbox users almost never see them.

I have still yet to see a vagrant, with the amount of hrs i have played i am starting to think it is somewhat similar to resonance rings on 360. That is literally the only thing besides summoning solaire for gwyn fight, that i haven't done in this game.

Can't wait for DLC so i can start finding little things most people would never notice, that would be cool if they added some even rarer creature in the PTD edition. Cause if i remember correctly it was a pretty long time before someone actually confirmed the vagrants were real. Or at least i don't remember anyone mentioning them right near launch.

I'm a little surprised, I'm an Xbox player with maybe 250-300 into Dark Souls, And I've seen two vagrants in the same play session. I'd say about..an hour or so between encounters. The first was in the undead parish by the alter. I was taking the elevator up from Firelink Shrine and I ran past the alter on my way to the blacksmith when all of a sudden I have white things shooting at me. To be honest, I didn't even know about vagrants before then.

The second encounter was in Anor Londo above the Great Hall, I was running around the top to avoid the sentinels and there it was, shooting those dang white things at me again.

I think I may have had incredible luck that day, Since I've never seen one again.

I've been trying to "create" vagrants (for other players) on the PC version. My understanding is that vagrants are born when items are left out. I just drop equipment I don't want/will never use (black knight stuff, dark hands etc.) when farming slabs in New Londo.

Does anyone know if dropped items apply, or is it just items you never loot from defeated enemies?

A few months ago a bunch of people here spent a night trying to create vagrants in people's worlds. They had some kind of process they really believed in, but I can't quite remember it. It may be as simple as dropping a large quantity of junk and then dying. The dying part is a must, I think.
