Well after a hard day in Anor Londo i finally downed the boss and got the fire keeper soul back.

This is as far as i have ever been now - My next step before i move on any further is to try and decide what gear i want other than my side sword at the moment i keep chopping and changing it all the time to what benefit i am not sure but i really want to try and upgrade some stuff and stick with it.

    Any advice here much appreciated

    What are your current stats?

For my dex/int, I prefer a scimitar or falchion; normally scimitar at lower levels as the extra weight matters.

When I play a dex/int for fun, this is how I run him:

Focus mainly on dex. Leave int at 10, bump to 12 to use the Ooc catalyst once it's available. Get end to 30, Vit to 20/25. Push dex to 40. Push INT to 15 once greater magic weapon becomes available.

And... that's about it. After that, it's a preference if you want to push for 25 INT for crystal magic weapon, but putting 10 in END or VIT is great. Probably VIT first, as I like to move fast without the DWGR and 10 END = 2.5 units of gear. Not that much.

Since i am thinking about upgrading armor - I was wondering if people would suggest 25% or under or 50% or under?

Up until now i have been making a point of 25% under and have been wearing havel ring for a while - Is this just a case of personal preference?

    Yep, completely personal preference.

More experienced players prefer the speed, but when I was newer to the game, armour was much more important, as I didn't know the enemies enough to exploit their weaknesses with swing speed. Depends on your style and skill. If you find you're getting hit a lot, go for 50% wearing havels; will allow you to wear some pretty heavy armour (stone, maybe havels).

Do you want any spoilers, or are you exploring the game yourself for the first time?

And also... what are your stats, and what style do you enjoy playing? Do you find you're agile enough to dodge most enemies, or do you get knocked around still?

    Hi thanks for the reply.

    My stats are currently Vit - 15 Attunement 12 - End - 30 - St - 16 Dex - 22 Int - 15

I must admit i like to dive around a fair bit and stay mobile think because i have been sub 25% since i started playing that going over that just seems slow. This is my first play through the game although i do know quite a bit about it so spoilers are not really an issue.

I don't like spoiling anything for people.

Good setup with what you have:
Spells: Great Magic Weapon, spell of choice

Moving fast is great, but with 30END + Havel's Ring, you can equip some heavy duty armour. Try keeping your weight to 50% and try on Havel's. It'll feel slow, but you'll feel like a tank. Good if you feel like you're too squishy. Try it out in some areas.

Weapons: BSS is good, Lightning spear is strong, especially if you levelled it up with Chunks. Bastard Sword/Claymore are great with those stats IMO.

I would push Vit to 20, then dex since you like moving fast.

Next area to tackle I would recommend is New Londo after grabbing the lord vessel (that's all I'll say). Note that you cannot fight the boss of New Londo; pay attention to the clues and you should be able to figure out why or what you need to do.

Well last night i managed to take down the Demon back in the undead asylum.

I did try out with some heavier armor but i could just not get used to the slow roll. He took me out several times and i was going to give up but switched back to my lightweight gear and took him out without too much difficulty.

I was just going to mix and match my gear to find a lightweight set i like ( That could possibly give me the ability not to wear havels ring) but i note that not a lot of it has poise and that kind of concerns me as it seems to be a big deal in terms of a stat.

Its only a big deal if you have a slow swinging weapon or you're doing pvp

Ventured into....that place with the ghosts today and found it pretty tough - they are tricky buggers going in and out of walls.

I ran out of curses but will restock and venture back in tomorrow.

That doll has to do with the large painting in anorlondo, the one with the white ninjas gaurding it. Its a tough area, but one of my all time fav areas in dark souls. The boss is a pain, but theres a lot of good loot in the area if you go through it all.

Bashed my head against the four kings for a couple of hours today. Made little progress.

Let me know if you want any advice, or want to figure it out yourself.

    Couple of hours sounds rough.

Yeah I found the shortcut myself just by looking around. There's a couple shortcuts.

So, you're having difficulties with the 4 kings; care to post your build and I'll try to steer you in the right direction without giving anything away?

What techniques have you currently tried?
