Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
Who here plays Sins? So far I know me, Sinterus and Revan do. We may also convince Dan to play. Who else? Also if anyone can lay down some tricks and tips, any strategies or a list of ships you should actually use (e.g. I never use garda's or the robotic repair cruisers because they never seem to do anything) that'd be great.

I play it, though I've stopped recently as I got bored. I might play the game again soon, but all I remember is that the Vasari Loyalists are virtually unbeatable if played to their strongpoints early in the game.

You play as one of three factions (Each with 2 subfactions), and then must expand across the galaxy to beat foes through either diplomacy or battle. Each starsystem is controlled seperately, and these are linked kind of like constellations. In the larger games these "constellations" are linked to form an entire galaxy to control, which can lead to massive games.
Each faction has unique abilities, ships, and buildings. There are also Titan vessels for each class, which are kind of like an ultimate ship, and similarly there are multiple structural superweapons. The aim is to win by one of various methods.

So it's a regular RTS, except for that it is in space?

Pretty much yep, except it's one of the greater ones, in line with Supreme Commander levels of battle.

I have the discs.. or atleast the old ones.
Is rebellion the new version?
Also I distinctly remember the human people being the best.
That intersystem cannon is amazing!

Rebellion is the new one. I love TEC, but atm I'm pretty sure the Vasari Rebels are considered the best race.

Not anymore, they got nerfed pretty hard. VR is still OP, with their mobil Star Bases having as much as 27k+ hp, and shields around 16k if I remember right. Now if they happen to envoy with advent and tec, they would be even worse.

Rebellion is the newest Expac, available for download at Sinsofasolarempire.com, if you regesitered your account with the original, you get 10$ off your purchase of the new expac.
Tec now have 2 factions: Loyalist and Rebels
same goes for every race
Tec Loyalists, TL for short, can have 2 Star Bases per planet, and get extra cheeper novas, earlier on. They are geared for defence.
Tex Rebels, TR for short, are able to ally with pirates, and are gear for offence. Their Titan is a giant rail gun with more guns on it for Christs sake. Its nick named a Capital ship assassin with its snipe move that CAN take out a low lvl, low research capital ship in one hit.
This expac is pretty good IMO, and I play it all the time. If you get it, add me on steam as Sintinerus, we'll play a match.

If anyone wants to play with me Add me on steam: Sintinerus. I would love to play you in a game of Sins, even if you don't know how, we can work on getting you skilled.

Im normally a TEC guy because they are so industry oriented but...... I just re installed Trinity and remembered why I love the Advent!
Rapid, non hindered warp travel, solid cruisers, and a battleship that draws enemy fire..... yup solid as hell.
Though could someone summarise the basic attributes of the the Races?

Little about the races/factions

Tec Rebels: Anti-Xeno, militarily gear. Titan is a big *** cannon.
Tec Loyalists: Defence Geared. Get Novas cheaper. faster, and can have more of them. Can have 2 star bases per world, cheaper.
Advent Loyalist: Still good ol' Advent, except they
re more culture geared, ie more damage in culture, 5% to convert fleeing frigates/ maybe cruisers?. Titan is decently sturdy, but it hits like a truck, and it hits often. Sorta a reinforced glass cannon.
Advent Rebels: More militarily geared than AL's. Titan hits hard, can absorb frigates to heal itself, and eventually if it dies it goes into overdrive mode for a few minutes-hitting harder, faster being invulnerable all the while, at least untill it dies.
Vasari Loyalist: All about getting the hell out of dodge. They are now able to put labs on capital ships, get taxes off capital ships, devour their planets for credits and resources. Titan is a mobile home world, able to spawn in phase gates for reinforcements if you researched that.
Vasari Rebels: They think that they should get the other races to join them in their flight rather than kill them off. Most of their tech reflects this. Their star bases can be mobilized, making lovely additions to your fleet. Their Titan is a nano tech demigod, and when paired with their mobile star bases, perhaps the most op race/faction in the game. Also of note, team members can share your phase gate system
