    Astora Build Empty Astora Build

Post by Boogerwood Thu Sep 13, 2012 3:19 am

There is always a lt of discussion around dex builds, strength builds, etc, but this IS an RPG after all so what about themed builds? Based on the lore I've constructed a story and want to build a character that's hails from Astora. What are your thoughts on how to build? Weapons, armor, magic/miracles/pyro, etc.

Look forward to the discussion and what other character types people build.

I hate myself for saying this but the Noble Knights are a User made covenant who specialise is co op and making all sorts of knightly themed builds. You could talk to them about making knight type builds.

I'm working on a Knight of Carim for them SL 80- http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=1823282617270738

This is my initial thought on using the Astora gear from a starting point of the Knight class. Unfortunately, the Astora Straight Sword isn't actually very good compared to the standard longsword. On the bright side, this build has great poise and amazing stamina regeneration, so you can always stay in the fight.

    Sure heres the link https://soulswiki.forumotion.com/t9840-the-noble-knights

But I can tell you that the knights are strict without how members are to make thier builds.

I'm actually not going for a Knight build. My character will be a common citizen of Astora who was accosted presumably by the Way of White when he was found to have the Dark Sign. I'm thinking wanderer. I really want to play with a pure Dex build (believe it or not but I'm one of the few that hasn't tried that route!) with minimal sorcery (he's also an old friend of Logan). And that's it. How would a commoner handle all this? That's the fun.

Is it really an Astora build if it's unrelated to Astora apart from just happening to be the character's birthplace, though? Astora is known, it seems, for its skillful knights rather than drifters or sorcerers, so calling it an "Astora build" is a bit misleading.

Mind you, I'm not knocking your idea at all -- I think it's a perfectly fine narrative basis for a character. It's just that when you ask for an Astora build, you're going to get knights, you know?

Excellent point. But you're right, I was going for the less obvious. Someone had to prepare the meals for knights, right? lol. He's just a "wrong place wrong time." Why Astora? In my narrative (wow I can't beleive I'm even thinking like this), I want him to have linkage (if just geographic/cultural) to Anastasia and Solaire.

But thanks! I see your point. Perhaps he's the weakling that couldn't keep up with the knights and so resigned himself to innkeeper. Yet he is the one called upon to save all the world! Yeah, cliche, but as Louis says, I'm a rank sentimentalist (Casablanca). LOL!
