Probably because Gwyndolin do not sustain the ilusion, He created it but the ilusion sustains itself (like it's very low power consumption). So, if Gwyndolin dies, the ilusion continues to exist.

In the other hand, maybe the ilusion continues there because of the time distortion in Lordran. Maybe another Gwyndolin, from another world/plane could sustain it... Think about, Gwyndolin has the power to send us to other planes to chase down people who have sinned ou killed the illusion, so it's fair to assume that he could sustain the ilusion in other worlds too.

The witches used a form of fire sorcery drawing on the power of their lord soul. it was warped when the bed of chaos was born but was then developed into pyromancy by quelana. Seath is described as the grandfather of sorcery in his lord soul. He invented sorcery which drew on the power of his bequethed soul shard. All power in the game can be traced back to souls. All magic comes from souls or their latent power.
