    Fun Dark Souls stories.

Post by Siegfried. on Tue Sep 11, 2012 3:59 am

Exactly as it says on the tin; post stuff that happened to you that was cool, funny, or just outright unexpected. PvE, PvP, whatever -- it's all good.

I'd like to begin with a tale of Lower Burg PvP, where a BB glitch invader entered my world. The first thing I noticed is that his presence opened the thief ambush doors, him having come up from the Capra Demon side while I was coming down the stairs into the first part of the area. When I noticed him, he did the "What is it, bro?" gesture and shook his catalyst at me using the casting failure animation.

He moved up to me. Right in front of me. And proceeded to shake his catalyst. I knew that shenanigans were on for real now, so I put away my shield and zweihander and proceeded to punch on, bare-handed. In response, he attempted to catch me with the Dark Hand, which I punished with my fist of fury. At some point I aggro'd the hollow thieves, at which point he stood aside while I dealt with him. A good chap indeed.

Then we spent about two or three minutes doing exactly the same thing: he'd do the "What is it?" gesture and I'd punch him in the gut. Over and over. This guy was obviously quite the hardcore individual -- my punches are known to shatter solid stone and cure cancer, so either this guy was made of dragon scales or had a lot of cancer.

After some time, my most honourable adversary moved up to the flames beside the stairway down. I assumed he was going to exit via conflagratory suicde, but no! I waved goodbye as he walked into the fire, but he recovered sooner than my animation finished, and he caught me with the Dark Hand, stealing a grand total of no humanity. All the same, the blow had been struck, and I had to up the ante.

So I kicked him into the fire repeatedly via incendiary stunlock. Caught between my mighty foot and a pile of burning corpses, he perished while waving his arms about like a two-bit loony. Hats off to him for the manly throwdown and fiery death.

Earlier today, I had an invader at Anor Londo while I was on the narrow walkways above the Painting Guardian room. He didn't come to get me, so I went up to the bridge and lowered it twice in quick succession, mocking him from down below. He didn't seem to respond much, so I put a couple of arrows in him. Away from his console, perhaps? Why would you invade and just leave, though?

Eventually, I decided to just go back up and take the fight to him, though. Defeated the second gargoyle, walked up to him and waved. The guy didn't respond, even though I was standing right in front of him with a bloody great big zweihander. So I put my weapon and shield away again as a show of peaceful intention in case the player was away for a minute.

As soon as I did that, he came at me with his dagger and tried to fish for a backstab! So I pulled out my weapon and shield again, and put my back to the edge guard of the central bridge platform. Took a few zweihander swipes to send him packing. It does feel damn good to punish a backstab fisher with a slow weapon like that. I think a lot of people underestimate the zweihander; it may be slow, but it punishes serial dodging like nothing else, and in a metagame where the Dark Wood Grain Ring reigns supreme, it catches a lot of people by surprise.

Theoretically, I'm not above Catacombs bridge trolling, although I've never been an invader there. There can be some fun times in the Catacombs, especially when you get clownish invaders; I remember my younger brother being tricked into attacking Patches.

Once in Anor Londo, I had just defeated the 2nd gargoyle and was on my way up the stairs. I get invaded as I'm fighting the giants so I backed off, expecting him to fight me with the monsters. He rushes in and manages to stunlock me with his claymore pretty quickly and I die.

I'm at the same area as a human again but this time I'm down among the lightning demons, working my way to the archers. I get invaded by the same guy. I kill the 2 lightning demons and turn around to fight him but he runs right past me. I expected him to try and kill me as I was trying to get past the archers but I didn't see him so I luckily manage to dodge the arrows and parry the right silver knight off the ledge. I see the invader waiting by the fog door. I was a bit wary at first but he didn't make a move for me, he just did the joy gesture and then pointed to the fog door.

I go through and he ended up following me around the whole level as I was making my way to the boss room. He even dropped me a humanity and killed another invader for me. He opens up the huge doors at the front of the cathedral and makes it obvious he wants a fight. So we duke it out and I die. It was a fun invasion, a nice change of pace from the usual at least. We ended up exchanging messages and we've been dueling and hunting each other when we can since then happy

I always jump when going to the firelink fire from the spot where the phyromancer is located, but once I somehow jumped into the well. I didn't even hit the side. I never knew it was possible.

Hi there, im new to Dark Souls and just did play for a week yet but already have seen alot of (funny and not so funny) stuff i would be able to talk about.

But today something happened what did confuse me alot.
I got invaded a couple of times so far (sometimes i lost, sometimes i won. Some fights were fair and some were unfair etc.) but the guy who did invade me today was different from all others before.

I was on the way to those annoying Dark Knight Archers in Anor Londo and got invaded just right after i got past those 2 big statue like mobs (which i hate more than every other mob in this game so far). My first thought was "oh pls god, not now ;_;".
I was awaiting his attack but he didnt engage, instead he dropped a nice weapon for me, a shield after and did jump off the ledge to his death which gave me about 7000 souls too O.o

It took me a couple of minutes to realized what just happened.

Its just sad that there is no way, i know of, to talk to others and say thanks except gestures :/

Well, if hes reading here: thank you!

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Btw. thanks to the other one who did invade and fought against me a lil later,.
Even if im not a PvP-player and did loose against him, it was a nice, fair and respectful duel. Thanks to you too.

That's great. There is quite a bit of gifting that goes on in Dark Souls, and when it happens outside of the Undead Burg/Parish it's usually a good thing.

You can always look under Players Met if you're on PS3 or go into Party and scroll to the right on Xbox to find out who they were and message them.

As far as PVP, my favorite story was the very first time I invaded ANYONE. I chose New Londo as I had just joined the DarkWraiths. I warp in to find two players out on the center platform between the bridges. So, doing what any timid newb would do, I fired a single arrow at them to get their attention, wave and run (read hide) behind the half walls. As they realized I wasn't going to come after them, one of the players ran up in steel armor, a Big Hat, Moonlight Greatsword and a Catalyst. Me, not knowing the death that was coming for me, dove out and stabbed the guy with my vastly inferior sword... It didn't even make his health bar move. The player casually summoned a set of Crystal Homing Soulmass which promptly made me realize how new I really was.
With the horror of my display over, I message the guy "Thanks for squashing me so hard on my very first invasion! =)" At which time he let me know he was SL713 and, per him, one of the best PVPers in the game. The he said he would love to answer any questions I had about the game. An hour of messaging later, I realized that this game truly is filled with amazing players, both technically and tactically... but socially as well!

Alright, got another. Happened not ten minutes ago.

I was in the Depths with a new character, going for an Aragorn-esque ranger-style character with Hunter as my starting class. Naturally, I had selected the Balder Side Sword as my primary armament and had it at +5. Other than that, I had a Heater Shield and a Longbow, both at +2. My armour was a mismash of Elite Knight, Dark Leather and Leather sets, unupgraded.

So I'm at the bonfire, kindle, and leave to use a soul item in order to level up. But I notice after using the item that I can no longer rest at the bonfire. Incoming invasion! I hoped against hope that it was an honest invader, but we all know the Depths -- glitchers galore.

I set up a shot through the hallway leading to the bonfire to test the defense of my adversary, dealing about 30 damage. Not great, but it's a bow. My sword doesn't do a whole lot more, at about 50-something damage, and I notice that my adversary is using some kind of fist weapon -- probably the Dark Hand. Only glitchers are usually blase enough to use a fist weapon in PvP, so I prepare for the worst.

This guy doesn't impress me. All his attacks are easily avoided and I chip damage him with my sword. But! I notice that my thrust attack deals somewhere in the range of 150 damage -- they call it the "Baller Swag Sword" for a reason. So I'm chipping at this guy and even get a backstab, taking him to low health. He decides enough is enough, pulls out a claymore and tags me for most of my health, my arse being firmly tasered by his glitched-out lightning bling.

Deciding that my goose is more or less cooked, I retreat down the hallway to buy time to heal. He's having none of it, though, and keeps pressure on me with an advance to meet my brave running away, running away. If I keep retreating, I'm just going to back into a bunch of slimes anyway, so it's do-or-die. One thrust more is all it took -- he committed too heavily to his offense, and my attack struck first, ending the fight barely in my favour.

Needless to say, I feel pretty pro right now -- defeating a lightning claymore glitcher with nothing but a Baller Swag Sword and a Heater Shield. Must've been pretty humiliating for the guy on the other end, but it serves him right! Invading a low-level area with maxed gear is just pathetic, and I'm glad I got to serve up an invading glitcher with a low-level character and low-level gear.

That Baller Swag Sword, guys. That sword.

    EDIT:

    One day.

    Two battles.

    Two glitchers down.

This one was in Blighttown, just at the first bonfire. He was coming up the ladder from behind it, so I did a plunging attack down and took care of the enemies. He survived the attack and was up the ladder by the time I had finished, so climbing up myself was sure to be suicide. So we began mutually sniping one-another from our respective positions; he from above with magic, myself from below with arrows.

Eventually, I decided to see if the creaky bridge nearby went anywhere (I didn't remember if it did or not). It didn't. So he climbed down and I was stuck in the proverbial corner of the end of that bridge, on a large, stable platform that didn't go to any other part of the area. Drat.

So the sniping began anew, except he was out of range for magic lock-ons. A better player might have tried to no-scope it, but this guy, like most glitchers, was evidently relying on gear. In a show of alleged superiority, he proceeded to take the hits and use a massive supply of humanity to heal every so often. I even poisoned him three or four times, hoping he hadn't thought of glitching or buying a bunch of purple moss. No such luck. Bastard mocked me, using humanity to "heal" even when he had full health.

I was quickly running out of arrows, and we spent ages (fifteen minutes? More?) just staring one-another down from opposite sides of the creaky bridge. Glitcher or no, I eventually decided to take my chances and crossed the bridge myself. The glitcher made a valiant and courageous effort to kick me off the edge to no avail, and I pushed him back. We fought for a bit and then he took off up the ladder to heal. Again, going up myself would have been suicide, so I tolerated this and healed myself.

He wasn't going to risk the ladder while I was close, and as much as I wanted to punish him for his choice, I knew I had to back off a bit and let him down the ladder to continue close combat. Predictably, he came down the ladder only when he was absolutely sure I wouldn't attack. I laid into him with my sword as soon as humanly possible, though, and I guess the ferocity of my attack caught him off guard. So he tried to flee across the creaky bridge.

T'was his cowardice that killed him; in his desperate fervor to find safety, he fell right off the bridge. I might not have struck the final blow, but I damn well scared a glitcher into involuntary suicide -- a win in my book!

Feeling good about my glitcher kills right now, with an honestly-built, non-glitched character to boot.

I was ganking (yes, the best way for souls when you can't glitch it) in the forest and I was **** some face until 2 people came into my world. I always hated ganking, so when it's 2v2 I let it be 1v1 and 1v1. Well my phantom dies and i'm stucking fight both. So I manage to kill 1 and am fighting the second when another invades me. No DWGR and a simple lightning winged +3 and I managed to repeate this through 11 invaders (non-stop) without healing 1 time :3 Thats what got me addicted to Dark Souls PvP big grin

    So, this happened yesterday night,

Trying to exchange some itens with another user from here (the forums). We agreed to meet at New Londo, just after the stairs of the elevator. I left a red mark to him to summon me...

(a little break in the text)

Usually, when I gonna place a mark to trade I take of all the armor and weapons to show other probably people in the area that I'm not searching for a duel. Mostly people get it and leave us be to do our trade alone. Some doesn't.

    (returning the story)

So, there was me, totally naked, bare hands and a red sign in the floor. After a few seconds I got summoned. I tought that was the guy and bowed to salute him... the guys takes a Black Knight Greatsword and trespass me in the belly... less than one second later, I'm dead! Totally naked, and dead by some inescrupulous malefector of another plane... life is tough in Lordran.

We eventually finished the trade in Painted World, after a few attacks there.
