Guild Wars 2
So, I'm downloading this right now (come on, come on...), and I was wondering if anyone else intends to play this? If so, would anyone be up for some occasional co-op?

That's... rather unfortunate. 'coz I've heard that PTDE is a bad port, and I've seen that GW2 is kickass.

It is. And yeah GW2 is kickass, I loved the first one. Welp, Final Fantasy XIV will keep me occupied till I next have spending money.

Re: Guild Wars 2
I'm actually considering getting the game if i've got enough money left after the Dks DLC, Halo 4 and some other stuff. What's the game like anyway? What would you give it? ?/10
And what makes the game stand out from all other mmos? Just really curious about this game

Re: Guild Wars 2
Hmmm. I haven't gotten a really accurate assessment yet, 'coz I'm only level 28/80, and there's a lot of cool stuff that happens at level 30.
From what I've played, the combat is much more interesting, challenging, and responsive than regular mmos (I don't like the ranged, but I know plenty of people who do). I've tried 6 of the 8 available classes and have only liked one, but again, I know plenty of people who like each. You can pvp right out of the gate, and have all of your skills scaled up to 80, but you still won't be as powerful because you won't have all of the abilities and gear that you would if you were 80. There are 8 dungeons in the game, the first of which is at level 30, so I can't review them. There's some minor UI issues, but nothing too bad, and crafting could be streamlined a bit. If you explore the map thoroughly you'll find some cool stuff and some jumping puzzles that will make you want to tear your hair out. The "quests" are very different from most mmos. They're little hearts on the map, and if you get within x distance of them a little tast will pop up in your quest tracker. It might say "Help Soldier X Defeat centaurs, retrieve stolen supplies, destroy traps, and clear unexploded shot" or something. Each action there will fill up a progress bar, and when you finish it you get Karma (a special currency) and XP. They get a bit monotonous, but they're still a lot better than regular quests, and other people can help you with them.
There are also "points of interest", "vistas", "waypoints", and "skill points". When you find a point of interest, view a vista, discover a waypoint, or just remove the fog from a new section of your map, you get xp. When you find a skill point, you either do a challenge, get an item, or commune with a place of power. Skill points are used for unlocking skills that will take up the 7, 8, and 9 keys on your keyboard, elite skills that use the 0 key, healing skills that use the 6 key, and the highest tier of crafted weapon use 200 skill points. You get one per level after 5, can find the skill challenges in the wild, and for every level's worth of xp you get after 80 you get another, though the xp doesn't count towards anything else that I know of. There's also a cash shop, but it's just cosmetic stuff and xp boosts.
The main questline, your "personal story" runs throughout the game, and is quite cool. It's fully voiced, has some choices that actually affect things, and provides lots of xp. However, it'll quickly outlevel you, so you also have to do the regular quests, crafting, exploring, or whatever.
The combat is centered around your weapon. For each weapon you get 5 skills (or 3 for a main hand weapon and 2 for an offhand). If you're a thief you get different skills when you dual wield. The 6-0 keys are the same regardless of your weapon, but you have a fair bit of choice for them. You can dodge roll twice before you have to let your endurance recharge, but it evades all attacks. There are no tanks, healers, or dps in GW2. Every class can do lots of damage, every class can support, and most are a combination of both. For instance, I play a guardian with a greatsword. My skills on 1, 3, 4, and 5 are damage oriented, while my skills on 2, f1, f2, f3, and 9 are support. Each class has special things on the f keys, my guardian has three virtues. One sets stuff on fire every 5 hits as a passive, one grants me increased hp regen as a passive, and one gives me an aegis every 40 seconds which blocks a single attack. The actives for them deactivate the passives until they've recharged. You unlock the skill slots on keys 7, 8, and 9, at levels 5, 10, and 20 respectively.
If you're more into stats, there are ~5 (don't remember) trait lines. You can buy books at levels 11, 40, and 60, that unlock novice, adept, and master trait perks. Each level starting with 11 you can put a trait point in a trait, and it will increase stats tied to that trait line, and every 5 points (provided you have the book) you get a perk. Every other perk is a major perk, which gives you an adjustable choice on what you want there.
The only other things of note are the dynamic events. Sometimes a dolyak will go from a trading post to a town, and you can help defend it for xp and gold. Sometimes a champion cave troll will attack. Each zone has a world boss on a timer. They're big, take lotsa people to kill, and will roflstomp you if you just wail on them.
The graphics are fantastic, the character customization is quite detailed, and the voice acting is good. On a good scale of 1-10, where 5 is average, I'd give it a 7. I've been enjoying it, but I think I'd rate it higher if I had a party to play with (hint hint). I'm going to slow way down on it because Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2 are releasing, but it's still fun.
Speaking of BL2 and TL2, I need to create threads for those. Oh, wow, they already exist. Well done, forum, well done...

I've only PvE'd, but I've abandoned all of my purchased games in a recent LoL binge.
