    I did some damage tests on the npc's at Sunlight to find the best stat distribution for buffs - 20/50 or 40/30. I also tested Sunlight Blade against Power Within/elemental weapons to
    see how they compare pre-patch.

    I used normal +15 weapons though I also tested with Crystal weapons which are slightly
    better, though at 2/8 crystal only did 798 damage compared to 949 with +15. I think in
    the upcoming patch Crystal Weapons should be made repairable.

    if crystals were repairable then what is the point of +15 or any other weapon path??

    they need just just have the durability higher so they last longer, or if they did make them repairable make them unable to be buffed, so they are for builds with no magic, where +15 is for those with magic, and in doing so would need to buff all boss weapons like the Chaos blade, or they would become obsolete

    I think they should be repairable, but greatly decrease the durability to like 5, so they last for very short times.

    this thread actually got me thinking on what a cool new upgrade path would be.

    it be nice to have an upgrade path that would lower the base damage of weapons, but increase scaling, and making the weapon un buffable.

    so say a +15 Uchi has a Base damage of 225, with A scaling. this new upgrade path at max level would have say 195 damage but a S scaling. so at 40 dex it would out damage the uchi, by say 30-40pts of damage, nothing huge but worth it

    this way pure str/dex builds would have weapons that they can use that can't be buffed, while keeping these weapons away from buff builds (to swap to when the buff on their +15 runs out) because they are worse then +15 unless you invest the stats. Having these weapons would give the pure dex/str build a slight advantage over the buff build once their buff runs out.

    a +15 with a buff would still deal considerably more damage, would just be a nice bonus to people who can't buff.

    man why would FROM get rid of that, i loved dark souls but never got to in depth with it like i did with Dark souls, i just had my one int character had my Moon Kilij and Crecent Uchi, my insanity catalyst and Kris

    With 1 or 2 points in att anyone can use pw. Its risky and a self buff, but its scary, especially on higher damage weapons. Its still a 40% bonus though, so its not like its terrible with smaller weapons, especailly if they can't be buffed themselves. (the lifehunt scythe and mlgs come to mind, though the sks could probably make excellent use of it combined with the leo ring)

    Question, do you have the values for a 40dex no buffs Uchi on hand?

    Also was there a reason 1hr2 wasn't tested?

    Just from my own play-style I find I always use 2hr2 as opposed to 1hr2,
    thinking about it though I should probably have tested it, I might test that and
    also no buffs later on today.

    Also, for those unaware - the Uchigatana has the exact same move-set and
    damage output as the Washing Pole. The Washing Pole is a better weapon
    due to it's range, but for an sl 100 build Post patch where a build will need to
    be optimum the Uchi is a good choice.

    The only players to whom crystal weapons are viable is to glitchers and
    hackers which is clearly unfair.

    Crystal weapons should be more powerful but have less durability so they
    last for only 1 fight before braking & are broken immediately through things
    like Acid Surge or even 1 piece of crystal armor making them a waste of a
    buff.

    SOMETHING should be done about crystal weapons.

    Either they're just better than normal+15 but a pain to keep on hand, which rewards time investment not skill. While a small AR boost wont swing a lot of fights, it'll probably swing a few.

    Or they're just worse than normal, like raw is currently, and will forever be irrelevant.

    I think Crystal would only be regulated for Tournament or League fights, where you pull out all the stops.
