    So in making a build around the murakumo I encountered a speedbump.

    Now I realize that most ( or all ) of the greatswords are going to swing slower post console DLC, but I still want to make a SL 99 build with this weapon just for kicks.

    I am originally going to buff it with CMW using either the Tin Crystilization Catalyst or Logans with 32 Int. My dex would be at 13 and str at 28, the base levels to 1h the weapon. I believe with the buff and +15 it should be doing around 700 damage.

    Now I can either go the buff route or instead of using points for Int I can bring dex up to 40 ( and arranging a few other categories ) and have the weapon do 552 damage, all physical.

    Armor and such aside I was wondering what the community thought would be a better route, going all physical or split the increased damage with the buff.

    I've already dedicated points in int (its around 24 right now), but I've only invested about 15-20 hours in the character, so I can easily start again.

    In case anyone was wondering, I would be using havels/wolf ring, using an assortment of Wanders Chest/Dark Gloves, Boots etc etc. Any combo that puts me below 25% to get fast roll, and I would also be in the ballpark of 45-60 poise if my memory is right. Also I would be using bloodshield for increased bleed resistance, since the community loves them katanas.

    Wait, you're going to make a mura 99 and buff it? Your vit and end will be low. You will likely be at base stats (or close to them) all to buff. IMO, don't buff, push your dex to 40 and you'll be better off.

    28/40 Quality is definately the way to go. Buffs are temporary and can be kited/turtled, dex is forever. Rather than takin gan attunment slot for a buff you can instead use GC or what have you if you want a couple spells.

    And 28/40 is great stats for the composite bow, so you aren't without weapon swap options.

    I find quality to simply be so much more versatile than the amalgam that is trying to buff a weapon like the mura and stay at sl99

    There is no way you can make a mura build AND buff it and stay at SL 99. Not without severe sacrifices.

    Yeah, Reim is right. In terms of hp and even your stamina pool, the build is paperthin if you opt for a buff.

    Vit and End are only at 39 a piece, so their not terribly low by any means since I'm only raising Int to 32, letting me use CMW, and then picking between Logans or TCC.

    Yep. Currently doing 352 damage at +15 with base stats, 550 after buff. Using Oolacile Ivory at 22 Int with Great Magic Weapon

    I say, ditch the buff and pump dex. Too many sacrifices for only a modest increase in AR. My +15 Mura with 40 dex does 350-600 damage (actual damage) unbuffed.

    Unless you want to cannon. A cannon is always difficult but its always dangerous.

    He can also menu swap to elemental mura if buff runs out, or MLGS. I have various builds that use weapons with base stats + buff and are pretty powerful. Either route will be ok, choose the one that it's fun to you.

    Yeah, but do they have 30 faith and canvas talisman, or are we talking 50 faith/DM talismam/DMB+3? 'Cause the latter can probably stack up to a lot of weapons on magic damage alone.

    50 Faith and 45 Int respectively. That's why I suggested going elemental, and 32 Int TCC CMW is pretty strong.

    use rant's build.
    you can play around with the helmet if you want to patch other resistances too, and you can get 40 poise with the wolf ring if you want to swap stuff out for the armor.

    I think what I'll do is just convert my SL 136 into a 149 build. Its currently designed for WP use ( 40 dex faith and 20 str) in order to buff, but I'll just add 8 to str and 5 in end to try and offset the weight of the mura.

    I've heard differently in regards to the lvl restrictions in the arena. 100-149 would be one of the divisions in pvp
