Starting a petition on VERY STRICT PC moderation

This petition is saying to hire Professional Moderators or none at all. It even calls for stricter conditions on who's considered a cheater, unlike the recent, lax petition by Peeverson.

Y'know it's a shame, because I mostly agree with you, but you really don't know how to word something like this.

Alot of this comes off as, for lack of a better word, "butthurt". Use less caps, less exclamation marks and check your spelling. Honestly you can come back at me with "Ok grammar nazi" but if you want this to be taken seriously it needs to be written in a serious manner.

    Oh, and on the topic:

I'm actually not against item duping. I'm for it. So, as you can imagine, I stopped reading shortly after that line early in your petition. Can't sign it now, my man. Ain't my thang.

Same here. Uzed to be against it, until I put 500+ hours into the game and just wanna make a new character without putting 50 more hours in.

If you dont have the restraint or patience to play the game honest when you first start, you prob wont be playing dks long anyway. I could have duped 500 hourz ago, but I didnt. Feel that I deserve the option now. My 2 cents anyway, diff opinion from a diff point of view.

That's what I'm screamin'. I'm done grinding and farming in this game (or I thought I was). That's PvE stuff. You know, you work hard to get those things so you appreciate their value.

Well, I've spent 1500+ hours appreciating their value. Now I just want the sh*t without all the fuss because I only play this game to PvP now. Duping and grinding are two different means to the same end. I WILL have the gear one way or another, and if one of those ways cuts HUNDREDS of hours off of the time I have to spend farting around in Lordran gathering the same stuff I've already picked up a seemingly infinite number of times before, then excuse the hell out of me while I choose the sh*t outta that option.

I honestly mean this in all due respect, am NOT trying to flame etc, but does it really take you 50hrs to start a new toon and get everything you need for a build? If all your toons roll in the 225 bracket I can see that but if your doing 125 or lower I can't possible imagine it would take that long with that much experience under your belt. Once again not trying to start anything, tons of good farming spots/etc and given most of my toons barely see past 20-25hrs(depending on build) before their "ready" I just can't see how it could take 50 =/

All I know is I wouldnt mind better moderation(or some at all at this point) after getting killed several times with a 1handed knife basic atk through 1500HP lol.....

guys if you're on ps3 though, good luck with your builds post DLC patch, cus bb glitch is getting removed, thank ***.

I dunno why you guys aren't against duping really, i understand it's okay if it was ONLY used to make high level builds where it's not unfair, but when it's used to dupe all the best gear onto a griefing character like is done now, it needs to be removed as it does harm to the online community.

Re: Starting a petition on VERY STRICT PC moderation

Post by DamageCK on Wed Sep 05, 2012 10:50 am

Well, my thing is there are--generally speaking--two player groups in DkS: PvE and PvP. Nowadays, I reside exclusively in the PvP group, and that's the perspective from which I voice my stance. However, I can guarantee that I have PvE'd FAR more than the average PvE player as well, so it's not as though I'm not taking into consideration the sentiments of the PvE crowd because I've been there. For hundreds upon hundreds of hours.

With all that said, in my opinion it's the PvP crowd that truly drives the longevity of this game. If there were no PvP element, I would have put the game down over a thousand hours ago, and I'm probably not the only one. And while in terms of playerbase, PvE players outnumber the PvP players without question, and it's probably a vast difference. But how long to they really have to worry about MAYBE getting griefed? A handful of playthroughs? And even then only a small portion of each playthrough where they were even able to be "griefed". Some of the members on this forum are approaching 2k hours played, myself included, because this is what we do. We're the playerbase that is truly invested in this game. And the next Souls game, and the next, and the one after that. So who truly has a higher stake in the decision?

And look, and I don't like the idea of "the little guy" getting pooped on by griefers while he's still trying to wrap his head around dying if he takes ten steps in any direction just in PvE, even though I also speculate they probably don't even know they've been "griefed". But when I imagine the time I would have had to put into this game to have created and recreated from scratch the number of builds I've put together by glitching a "starter kit", it's BAFFLING how anyone who is firmly in touch with reality could still want to play this game. Especially considering how many times a lot of us have scrapped builds and started over to change the distribution of a single point.

I'm aware that this may be viewed as selfish, and typically I've got no qualms with giving something up so another person can benefit, BUT I WANT THIS ONE. And that's really all I know to say. I, and others like me, am deeply invested in this game, and under the circumstance I feel that we ought to be given priority in this case over the PvE crowd in terms of determining whether to leave or remove the BB glitch, considering the implications that a removal of the BB glitch would have cor both parties.

That's how I feel about it. And now.... additional beers. Haha.

well to be fair, once the dlc hits the consoles on the 26th of october or whenever it is, you can say bye to the glitch if you're a ps3 player, and if you're an xbox player you can happily hack your game if you wish to dupe.

I personally doubt the removal of the BB glitch will reduce the number of players on the pvp scene really too much. the difference of not having it I think simply means there will be less people such as you and many others, who remake the build for the sake of 1 stat point. you simply won't do that anymore since it won't be worth the effort, though i think remaking a build for that sake personally to be an utterly pointless endeavour and always has been even with the BB glitch.

I firmly believe if people want to make builds, they will still happily make new builds, the only difference is people won't remake them over and over just to min/max poise or hp and I personally think the game will be better off for it, as people will focus on trying out new more innovative builds rather than repeatedly polishing the 'old faithful'.

Being able to throw a complete build together (stat-wise) in thirty minutes promotes innovation, in my opinion. Spending three to five hours to try some experimental sh*t is a lot harder to swallow than thirty minutes...

Well, i'd disagree. The BB glitch promotes everyone's massive use of the proverbial cookie cutter. without it, newer less 'perfect' builds i suppose will start coming in. PvP I think will be less about the guy who can stack the most HP and highest AR weapon and more about skill because of it.

I guess I'm being optimistic about the innovation lol, though with the loss of the BB glitch people won't bother to remake builds just to perfect them, which I think is a good thing. I guess whether people create strange but fun builds is more down to the player's taste whether they like the same old build or something interesting.

    Anyways damage, been an interesting discussion I feel like we're derailing the thread a bit silly , so i'm just gonna quote in my response to this response in the other less popular identical thread;

Serious_Much wrote:for the love of god, no more petitions.

You guys got what you asked for in your petition, dark souls on the pc, a direct port. It was obvious all along that there would be hacking as no extra measures would be taken compared to the console releases, and asking for any more from FROM who have already catered more than enough for you, is simply too much.

Is hacking bad? Of course. But we don't need another petition to tell FROM about problems they're probably well aware of and are already considering action on most likely.

The removal of BB glitch will mean less experimental builds... since making a build will take 10x as long no one will experiment in fear of wasting 5-10 hours of grinding compared to 20 min.

To add he original guild wars has a thing for pvp where you could instantly make a Max level character with any gear you wanted, but could only be used for pvp. Would be awesome if dark souls had something similar, but they can only be used for arena.

I'll sign. I guess it has a negative effect on PVPers who don't much care for the game itself anymore, but... whatever. All you have to do to keep PVPing is stay in human form as you play through and/or grind however long it takes you. It'll be good for you to be on the other side of the invasion, getting bled up by maxed kats while you wave around your li'l +3 shortsword.

Someone will probably find a new cheat soon anyway.

Thats just it, most of us that use the bb have already been there. I spent 500 hours grinding already, getting invaded by gankers etc. Been there, done that. Ive beaten every boss, farmed every item, a thousand times each. Dont have any desire or need to it again, Ive earned my wings bro. So have alot of people.

If people are just going to find a new way to cheat, how are you punishing anyone tho? They have let the bb thing go for how many months without a patch or fix or whatever?

And to some of us, its not a "cheat". I acquired everything I have, I'm just transfering it to another character in my eyes. I've had everything a million times already, to me transfering the same equipment I've spent hundreds of hours getting on dozens of other characters, is not a "cheat".

Yeh but this isn't an mmo. The game was never designed for that to be possible. The area you're getting into is "some people choose to do it, and some people don't so why should all be punished for the choice of some" but that's not really how it works when it comes to a glitch.

Edit: Btw, there are a few things that you could say about BB glitching that would make me agree with your points, but if you're not already going to use them in your argument I'm not going to give them to you big grin

Well thanks for the help

lol, the only reason I use bb is for PVP. To make builds for tournaments that have specific requirments or to try different things. I know gankers use it and I cant stand em as much as anyone.

I did after all play for hundreds of hours refusing to summon phantoms, stubbornly wanting to beat the game alone while online, getting ganked the whole way.

Take away bb and you might get rid of some of them, or not allow them to make More gank characters I guess. But they will find a way to gank anyway, where some of us who only use it to make legit characters will be punished and honestly, alot of people on this forum and the other hard core players that have tons of time into the game, will stop playing.

I work 60 hours a week and find a way to play 20 a week still lol. But take away bb, I just dont have the time to create new characters Again. I will have to stop playing as much. That sucks. For me and lot of others.

But all this said, I'm just playing some devils advocate, not trying to get into an argument with everyone, two people with different beliefs and different points of view will nearly never find common ground on something like this.
