Why the Knight shield?

I've seen plenty of people using this shield. Short answer: it sucks. 5.5 units of weight I think, and not much protection.

Why not spend 1k and pick up the heater shield? Or use the wood shield?

Early game, weight is a precious commodity, and I don't understand why people use it.

This is on the XBox 360, so anyone want to chime in?

The only thing I can think of is if they start with a bad shield (pyro) and want a free, 100% protection shield. But to me, its worth spending the money to get the heater shield, as you can farm 500+ souls very fast from going up to the bridge. Probably takes about 60 seconds of time to get the heater shield.

Anyways... would love to have it explained! (If there is an explanation, which I doubt).

Noobs who are struggling with the beginning portion of the game come upon this shield and switch to it simply because it LOOKS like it's a better shield than the one they had.

Pretty much what I did, lol.

Cause it looks kinds cool, I use it sometimes for pvp if I wanna look knightly.

What I don't get is sometimes I see what appear to be serious players using it. That always struck me as odd. Personally I have never used it.

This. It's mainly used for swag.

+1 for swag.
Knight shield + naked character is ultimate swag.

does it have a higher deflection rate than other shields? (weapon bounce effect?)

It's a trap, honestly. Kind of like the Drake Sword. I love invading the occasional Drake Sword/Knight Shield combo in the Depths.
