This boss is really easy if you want to be cheap. You can youtube strategies to beat him if you really want.
But having a phantom does not make the battle easier in my opinion.

I suggest you get a heavy wep(not fire) + fire resistance ring. get close enough that it starts trying to hit you with its 'arm' when this happens always roll to your left. then hit the 'arm'. make sure to keep enough stamina in reserve in case you do get hit. Always keep up your shield when its about to attack. hope this helps
