Games like Dark souls?
Games that require patients and skill. Are there any games like demon souls, dark souls, monster hunter? Big weapons, cool armour, awesome bosses?

Re: Games like Dark souls?
I tried searching but found none. The only one that always comes to my mind is Zelda. Not big weapons nor cool armor but awesome bosses. The guys say Monster Hunter but I can't play that on PS3. I'm playing Kingdoms of Amalur which is is like playing DkS on easy mode with a mix of Skyrim questing. Cool third person combat.

I played monster hunter tri and I just loved it. I sold my wii and kinda regret it, because monster hunter isn't easy to get acces to. It's really populair in japan and capcom doesn't really care about the west.
If they release monstr hunter on the 3DS or the Vita, I would get the hnadheld just for that.
I had my eye on kingdoms of amalur, but I didn't do it, because the npc looked so... I don't know... dull... When I saw gameplay it looked way to easy like you said even on hard mode.

Yeah I'm playing it on hard mode piece of cake. Sometime the bosses get very hardcore or the mobs sometimes don't let you attack (0 poise lol) but overall relatively easy game.

Shadow of the Colossus. Limited weapons, no armor, but the bosses are the best I have ever encountered in gaming, and it has an extremely expansive and beautiful environment. Exclusively on Playstation though... *cry*

^That is a masterpiece. Also Kingdom Hearts but it's a bit button mashing madness coop. Dragon's Dogma is somewhat similar because it has beautiful graphics and badass monsters but I hate 4 party member gankiness I prefer to fight and quest alone or with just 1 partner.

Kingdom Hearts is pretty button smashing, unless you do a magic build.
That is pretty indepth and difficult. So, I recommend KH2 and do magic once you get the chance. It's a really really great game though. Amazing bosses, great storyline. Love it

I LOVE SotC, man. I'm doing my 4th run. Mainly cause I want to get to the top of the tower to that hidden garden and I don't feel like wasting time picking up lizards all over the place, lol.

I'm actually thinking of going into game design, and I was planning on having a Soul-esque game in my Portfolio. Was actually coming on to make a thread about it to ask you guys what you thought of it, to tell the truth....

Re: Games like Dark souls?
Eh, I'll just do it here:
Ok, I haven't decided upon a name for it yet, but it is done in an 1990's setting. The entire game takes place in one city block, with various "Hellscapes" being opened up in different buildings, serving as one interconnected world like what Dark Souls has. There are guns, Flintlock and Normal, and weapons of all sorts.
There are three Classes; Priest, Hunter, and Cursed. Unlike in Darksouls, each class IS binding; if you're a Priest, you can't use Cursed equipment, if you are Cursed, you can't use Holy or Consecrated equipment. Hunters can use most anything, but they can't use any of it well.
Priests are comparable to Sorcerers, Clerics, and Pyromancers in DkS, able to buff weapons and use Miracles ranging from Bind to Smite, to even a Wrath of the Gods like ability. Cursed are comparable to Dragonbros; they can use items to change themselves to gain special abilities (Club arms, firebreath, stuff like that) along with weapons like Chaos Blade; incredibly powerful, but all of them have a drawback (Losing health, huge stamina loss, stuff like that). Hunters can't use Miracles or these Hell Stones, but I will explain what they get later on.
Weapons are divided into two major groups; Main hand, and Off Hand; you can have two Off Hand weapons, but you can't have two Main Hand weapons. Unless your a Hunter. Main hand weapons include Rifles, Whips, Swords, Clubs, a giant crucifix Priests can beat the Minions of Hell with. Off Hand weapons are Pistols, Daggers, Shortswords, sheilds, stuff like that. Guns are divided into two categories; "Normal", which deal small amounts of damage but have high rates of fire, or Flintlock, which are the opposite.
Additionally, if you die, you have a small chance of losing your Off Hand. Cursed can use a Hell Stone to regenerate their limb at will, but Priests and Hunters have to visit an NPC and pay to get their back. Alternatively, there are weapons that can ONLY be used when your character is missing a hand; a Hook, a pistol, a Chainsaw, various other stuff like that. About half way through the game, you can pay a NPC for Protection, which doesn't let you lose your limb at all.
Standard enemies will be Fishmen from H.P. Lovecraft and Shades, which are basically Hollows from DkS. A boss I would love to include is something like Legion from Castlevania (Seriously, look up Legion, Castlevania Symphony of the Night on Youtube).

^Sounds neat!
@OP, you may want to look into the King's Field games by From. They are pretty old and haven't aged very nicely, but the atmosphere and lore seem to be pretty similar. For instance, the Moonlight sword and Seath both make their first appearances there.
Also, if you can get a ROM of the old Berserk games, they're somewhat similar.

I can't speak for the bosses or upgrades on this, but if it's patience and skill you're looking for then Super Meat Boy is essentially what Dark Souls would feel like as a platformer. Difficult but fair levels, that sense of methodically learning your way forward past each challenge it throws it at you, and that fist-pumping excitement from finally overcoming that big hurdle. It's all there, just in a platformer instead of an RPG
Seriously, when I finally beat the level The Guy! I literally stood up and shouted in victory and had to stop playing to let myself calm down! The only other time I've done something like that in a game was when I beat the Four Kings on NG+ for the first time
EDIT: Or if you're looking for something with similar combat that features epic bosses and a heavily emphasized atmosphere like Dark Souls, I could also recommend Shadow of the Colossus

Heey Moratoetje ,
