    Dragon warrior build

Post by fujiphoenix on Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:33 pm

I am going to make a build focused on using dragon body and dragon weapons. I just have a few questions that the wiki didn't have answers to.

    1. Does being in dragon form increase pyromancy damage?

    2. Do dragon weapons get a damage boost from using them in dragon form. (Other than the boost from the dragon force attack.)

    3. Is the boost in bare fist attack power enough to warrent using them in pvp? You know, without it being suicide?

The last question I have is, is it terribly hard to get people to summon you through the dragon remnants? I ask because I know there are a lot of dragon head bastards out there who like to slaughter me with infinite throwing knives. :x

Regarding your last question I do everything possible to avoid dragons. If I'm stuck fighting one I assume they're a glitcher and do everything possible to kill them, even if I'm not particularly proud of it.

what calli said, bad time to be a dragon now, better wait till the patch/dlc since it got fixed. i do the same thing calli, never trust dragons, i love dragons but that cove has been so glitchy from the start and obviously douches take advantage of it.

No, No, and No. The claws have an AR of 400, though it's a hidden stat. Getting that close to attack with a slow fist weapon when you're a squishy, defenseless Dragon is a no no. Unless you use the roar to stagger them; then you get a massive damage boost.

The answers have been acceptable, but to your last question. Yes it is very hard, in xbox and PC to get summoned that way. Players are less likely to summon you based on glitching alone. On the PC, why would you summon me for something you probably don't care about (a scale, if you win) rather than a RSS, which grants a humanity.

Well that sucks. I really wanted to make a dragon covy build. But that will be almost impossible if I can't win scales from people :/

being a dragon will be even harder after the DLC, when the roar gets nerfed.

At sl 120 you get a lot of invasions with the eye in the burg. At least on PC.

The roar is getting nerfed? Why? The max poise you can get is 40. The roar is your only defense without armor. That's just stupid. How are they nerfing it?

I haven't tested it myself, but according to ICEFANG, the roar is nerfed. I'll test this when i get then dragon body.

Against other players, it doesn't work on Grass Crest or Crest shields, so it doesn't work on medium shields anymore, and even if it works on small shields, those are too uncommon to be worth roar.

And it took me 3 hours of farming to get 22 dragon scales, and I have a lot of experience fighting them, no offense, but if you haven't farmed them before, it will take longer as you learn their movesets. There are exactly 10 per playthrough as well, to help out:

    3 in Ash Lake
2 dropped by said Hydra in Ask Lake
1 dropped by Hydra in Darkroot
2 dropped by Undead Dragon (one in Painted World, one in Valley of Drakes)
1 in chest close to bonfire at bottom of Blighttown
1 tradeable with sung sung (Snuggly) via Egg Vermifuge.

Oh another thing, I dunno about Spurgun here, but in my experience around 99, which is suggested as the new PvP level, I've only been summoned as a dragonoid once, which happened by the Crest Door in Darkroot (near the gank hotspot). Ironically while I was trying to duel another person (we set up our duels, so I'm no counting them). I think the Arena has kinda sucked out a lot of classic PvP, so it will be hard to get them after the DLC comes out, just a warning.

Also from what I saw in ice's stream it takes forever for someone to summon you and theres very little traffic so I think invading is gonna be easier or set up duels with friends.

Apparently, the roar was nerfed to not go through medium shields. This has to be the single stupidest nerf FROM has made. As a draganoid, you have no defences, and no poise if you choose not to use the wolf ring. But you still get stunned by anything bigger than a katana. But with the changes to ultra great swords and the like, hyper armor will make my draganoid with the dragon great sword usable. Despite the no poise thing. Also, great swords not stunlocking any more will make a draganoid build much more viable. Typing this made me less mad at the nerf.

Guess what? Hyper Armor doesn't exist on any weapons confirmed yet, except I know it doesn't happen on the new STR Ax. I think it does do it for the R2 on Ultra Greatsword though. I dunno how this will impact the R2 for the Dragon Greatsword. Get mad!

Oh dragon is just terrible poop now. Wearing armor is much better.

Actually scratch that, I'm even more irked that the Greatshield of Artorias doesn't work right. I mean really, that really sucks!

Well, since I recently learned in a different thread that the pvp brackets are 50-99, 100-199, and 200+, I'll be making my dragon build at 199. That gives me enough room for 50 str to one hand the great dragon weaps, light role, and have 99 vit. That will give me some breathing room even without armor. Is the obsidian great sword from Kalameet's tail good? I want to have that as a back up to my dragon great sword. But to carry it ill have to tweak the endurance of the build.

I dunno how good it is really, but on paper, it seems OP as anything. Crazy power, low stat requirements and great moveset.
