Long time reader here!
I desperately need help with Artorias. Currently lvl 30, stalking the plains outside of his fog gate, but nobody else seems to be around my level.

Anyone help a brother out? I'll give you some shrooms, man.

Just use light gear and DO NOT use fire elemental weapon and you can solo him just fine, a pretty heavy weapon can do the job really well (since you can land one hit at time on him because his reaction time is hyper fast)

Problem is him "enraging" before I get him down. Once he enrages the curtains close. :\

if you hit him while he's casting you can stop the enraging, if you're not doing enough damage 2h you weapon and cast power within before entering the fog gate

If you've got the souls to boost your level up a little bit I could give you a hand. I'm sl46.

Pesth; Any clue how much damage I need to hit him with during the enrage? I just hit him 3 times whilst 2H'ing the BKH. He then proceeded to **** me.

How much would I need to level, Montante?

It's hard to say for sure, but the wiki tells me that we need to within 10-15% of each others' levels. That'd be about 40 for you.

I'll look around and see if there's anything about this having been changed in the DLC.

Just give me a few moments and I'll be 40.

I am pretty sure its more a question of timing when you hit him. With a quick weapon you will hit the sweet spot more often. I missed it twice with my claymore +15 and never with the katana lghng +5. I believe its important to strike him when his starts having a blue bubble its hard to explain. Good luck.

If hi is SL 46 You need to be 10 lvls bellow +10% you can be SL 34 and he'll be able to summon you

It took about an hour to get the summoning to work but it turned out well in the end, at least.
