    The Leo ring

Post by fujiphoenix on Mon Aug 27, 2012 11:31 pm

I am planning on making a role playing build for Ornstien, Smough, Artorias, and Ciaran. I'm starting the Ornstien one tonight or tomorrow, and want to do the complete character, which includes the Leo ring. Going off the wiki, it only boosts the physical damage of counter attacks, which means less than half the damage of the dragon slayer spear gets the boost. I don't want to sacrifice pvp viability just for this ring, so is it worth using with the dragon slayer spear, or am I better off with a different ring?

It's way better if you use it with pure physical weapons like SKS, BSS, Claymore, Ricard's, etc. I

iv played ornstien builds a bunch of times, and i normally don't bother with the ring, rather go with mobility, its gonna be annoying with DWGR nerf, probs sit on medium rolls....
when i have rp lately with ornstien lately its just been with my 40/40 build...
anyone got a dedicated build they use?

I play this build on XBox Live and Leo Ring is OK. It's not put to it's full potential, and there's better rings out there, but hosting in the forest I win 9 out of 10 fights, sometimes 19/20.

What you do need is the DWGR for the Orn build, since you don't have a shield. You also need to pop grass like there's no tomorrow.

    Here's an example build:
    http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?b=Y2xlcmljLDM0LDE0LDM4LDI3LDQwLDExLDgsMzAsMCw0Miw0MiwzOSw0MiwyMSwyNSw5MCwwLDAsMTI1LG5vcm1hbCxub3JtYWwsbm9ybWFsLG5vcm1hbCwwLDQ2LDQ2LDYyLDAsMCwwLDAsMCwwLDAsMCwwLDIsd29vZGVuLHdvb2Rlbix3b29kZW4sd29vZGVu

    Edit:
If this is for the new game, with the nerfed DWGR... good luck. Orn doesn't have a shield, so you'll be stuck with a mid roll which will really kind of screw you I think. You might make it work though... maybe RoFaP and the Leo Ring (I always use the Leo ring with Orn build... otherwise it's not Orn! It'd be like playing him in Black Iron Armour... that's not him).

    Sorry for the double post.

The other thing I just discovered yesterday, is that Orn's armour has a terrific stamina regeneration rate. So the key to fighting with him is keeping the pressure on. If they charge, backpedal/flip to the side and counter attack, but if they back off, keep on them, poking at the extreme range of your spear. Doing that forces them to use something like a bow, which you can easily punish with the range on your spear.
