Confessions for things you ever felt bad about doing in DkS?

I'll start with one:

When I first started playing DkS, I was a forest ganker. I fished for backstabs with my katana and spammed WoG on every forest invader I came across. I was a pretty low pvper, I'm ashamed to say.

But after joining the forums here I had a change of heart. It gave me a fresh perspective and I learned a bit about what most people consider honorable. And that gankers who BS fish and wog spam are generally seen as cheap. I have everyone here on the forums to thank for converting a forest ganker into an honorable pvper (guess it depends on your personal definition of "honorable"). I honestly have enjoyed the game so much more ever since becoming a part of this community.

Now back to topic! All confessions here are welcome and free of judgment.

When I want to do something specific with someone but wind up getting summoned to some random dude's world. Sometimes I'll be too lazy to crystal out and I'll just run ahead and attract the aggro of every mob around in the hopes that either I or my summoner will get killed quickly. :oops:

I have yet to commit any crime.

WoG'd someone into their Blacksmith.

Guy didn't shut his console off.

So he had to kill his Blacksmith because I kept emoting.

Wow. That may actually put you higher on the list than gankers.

I only did it like 2 or 3 times total. And I only do it when I'm trying to PvP as a red and the game randomly spits me out as a white.

My first character was a full havel's wearing ninja flipper with mask of the father. :pale:

I've ganked in the forest for souls, but once I leveled enough, I stopped because I had enough stats for buffs and enough HP to survive solo.

Also, I'm a big fan of PW, Cloranthy, Mask of the Child, and Grass Crest. Oooh, deadly

Invaded a guy and a phantom in the burg, assumed they were gankers and butchered them with every antigank trick I knew, just to find out they were forumites doing a trade.

Yeah, you talked about that one. That was befowler you got, right?

Yeah. Only time I ever felt bad that I killed someone. Mostly because of the wog stun+hornet ring dmb iaito back stab that was what killed him. The only techniques I reserve for evening odds are things like that, where if the first hit connects its always/almost always a kill because the followup attacks cannot be dodged or escaped from.

Its fun to fight like that, don't get me wrong, but its terrible to lose like that, so I don't do it unless I'm dealing with gankers or people who try to do it to me.

How about our sins of stupidty, as in a Darwin award. One time while practicing with Befowler I got invaded by a DM in Btown. He ran off into the swamp. There were stone throwing giants, and flying bugs by him. He had buffed with PW and DMB on his Katana. I was wearing the Leather set, had a parrying dagger and a long sword. No rusted iron ring. I charged into the swamp after him rolling in between the giants and trying to fight him head on.

It was the most brutal death I have ever experienced in that game.

But like many stories, I was once a ganker. Only a few fights, before I got slammed by a single DM who killed the other phantom, then me, then finally the host with relative ease. Riposting me in fact. Made me realize just how weak I was trying to rely on numbers for my victories.

Reading the above makes me wonder why people bother with PvP. Sounds like a mug's game to me.

I used to be a ganker. My and my buddie always killed forest invaders. Always found ways to kill them. Had a time of my life because of the nonstop flow or invasions. Until my other friend showed me what dueling was like and then I quit the whole 2v1 2v2 or 2v3s.

Still they were fun times.

I too was a ganker in the Forest. I was always alone though. But still a ganker nonetheless.

The funniest part was that I was using my trading char, who isn't remotely specc'd for PvP (he wears an unupgraded full Solaire's set for the jolly trading coop, and packs a bunch of healing spells). It was like watching a kitten get backed over by an 18 wheeler.

But I also have a confession! I do coop mostly, but I have ganked once. It was in Anor Londo and the same host I was trying to help got invaded 3 straight times by one of the typical MoM vit gouge, DB popping HR/rapier backstab artists, who appeared to be using some sort of lag switch where he'd run up and then pause, and then all of a sudden just teleport into a backstab, OHKOing the host every time. 4th time, I get summoned yet again into this guy's world, and he goes over to the spawn point in front of the stairs and does the point down gesture. I get it. We hang around and sure enough the same DW invades again, and we beat the snot out of him immediately before he got 5 feet. I don't feel bad about that, but I do feel bad about the two Darkmoons that invaded before him that we had to deal with first. Collateral damage, but still.

Once I invaded as a darkmoon in dark anor londo and I transformed into a vase until the host died.

I invaded a hacker several times, dying each time.
I found his white sign outside O and S's fog so I summoned him to do all the work because I was lazy.

I summoned help on my first try at the Ornstein and Smough fight. I had seen Let's plays and people talking about how difficult it was, and I didn't want to deal with it

I used to get my kick from invading in anor londo with a super twinked out Lightning Rapier, Dragonslayer Bow and Wog..... my fav thing to do used to be becoming the third archer just before bonfire.....

But no more. I co op people through there on a regular basis now!
